About me:
Aloha! I'm James. I'm about 6 foot tall, own four pairs of shoes in various colours and I am sometimes a bit irritating. I'm a comedy writer, film maker and performer. In the last year I've written for Comedy Shuffle, Spacehopper (winner "Best Comedy" at the RTS awards), FAO3, Parsons and Naylor's Pull Out Sections and Mustard magazine.
Myself and Mr Lee Henman have a sketch show "in development" with BBC Scotland, which means... actually, don't really know what that means but boy it sure sounds like it should mean something doesn't it?
I make short comedies and cartoons for Shameless Films. Our films have been shown on the BBC, ITV, MTV2, Dave, HypTV, Propeller TV and at film festivals world-wide. You can see lots of them here: Shameless Films.
I've recently started going out and about doing stand up and sketches, and showing films.
I won The Frog and Bucket's Beat the Frog on 21/05/07. I were chuffed.
"James Harris made his LLC debut, and only his second gig ever. But it was a brilliant 5 minutes of great material, and left us wanting more." - Long Live Comedy
This random sketch show is performed by two very funny and quite charming men. Their sketches are quite unique; the pair perform well together, and they work hard to push the boundaries just beyond good taste. - Three Weeks Daily, Edinburgh
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet Diana Rigg 40 years ago and Father Christmas. And anyone making short films or beautiful music or comedy. And YOU. I want to meet you, too. You're funny and you make good stuff.
A 4 track EP, titled Call Signs, it provides the perfect introduction to the band prior to the release of their debut album, Grappling Hooks, in early 2010.
You can hear samples from all 4 EP tracks on the NAO Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/naoband
Hello. Please do delete this comment if you so wish.
We're just making sure that everyone knows that our debut album 'Horses For Courses' is available to buy from our little record label's online shop:
http://www.donttellclare.co.uk/shop.htm
Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.
International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.
Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.
North Atlantic Oscillation's "Hollywood Has Ended", from the forthcoming album Grappling Hooks, is featured in this month's Police Box compilation from TenTracks. It's here:
In case you haven't heard, TenTracks is a new music delivery service where you can buy exclusive 10-track compilations for £1, i.e. a mere 10p per track.
This month NAO are in the illustrious company of the excellent Found, Orkestra Del Sol, Fence Collective luminaries James Yorkston and King Creosote and exactly 5 others. Once again, that's £1 for ALL TEN TRACKS. Not bad, really.
Judging by your personal statement up there next to you picture, you, Harris, have got your first negative critique! Congratulations, you´ve officially made it into the industry now. :) I got another favour to ask, switch to message:) kisses
Hallo Matey, Just to let you know I'm still kicking around about to head up Edinburgh for some star wars fan films (Lets Hope that bit of acting know how comes in useful)
I just relaunched The Lowdown on Webtertainment.tv. The podcast brings you an assortment of information based on many different topics. If you love to surf the web for random information, then let The Lowdown start you off in the right direction! Topics range from artist and podcast interviews, reviews of travel locations, and occasional screencasts demonstrating social web applications!
I'm looking to get the word out on the relaunch and even find possible topics to cover in a future Lowdown. If you have suggestions, please contact me!
Glad your well. I'm not doing to bad plugging away at uni really. Ive not been doing much stand up recently just going to see a fair bit of it. Saw Jim Jeffries at the Arc last night and he was absoloutely awesome. Some cracking stories and deals with hecklers really well.
I'm coming back the 30th. Fuck the croissants( like in some french edition of American Pie), get the lager in... Goodnight! I shall wake up to a better world, I know. Hope you do too! x
Oh yes, I have definitely eaten too much and catching up on drinking now! :) my nana was in a bad mood so we had a bit of a interruption in the festive celebrations in order to drive her back home but hey! it's good stuff for a short film :) How's Bristol? x
Hey there!!! Just dropping by to say Happy Christmas and all that! Probably see ya down the beach getting away from Turkey and family and stuff!!! Either that or in the pub hey! Hope ya have a good one boyo!!
Thank you. We like your Dartz! video. Did you make a Dartz! video? Dunno, we like Dartz!. We definitely like the fact that you have four pairs of shoes, all different. And the man with a little head
oi oi! I really enjoy reading that book. after a long and painful hiatus I am back on the cult sci-fi track. I came upon it through William Gibson saying it´s his favourite book and William Gibson is my favourite sci-fi scribbler so A equals B and B equals C, so A equals C. :) I didn´t know Bester wrote short stories. There is definitely something very stripped down about his writing, seems basic but I guess he jus doesnt bother with bullshit. And as per usual with all sci-fi it is delightfully philosophical...:) How are you, James? x
Enjoyed the new films, very good. Well done for managing to get a good children's play area location too! See you around, might have a gig sorted for you, will get in touch if anything becomes more concrete.
Brendon Burns was ace last night he now has a red bull habbit! I thought he was thought provoking and pressed all the right buttons for me some of the things he said could have been taken the wrong way.
He mentioned the people at saltburn who thought he was racist and said when he hammered the point home to them they found it funny. His stuff about spunk and seagals has had me giggling all day and he mentioned that the old couples in saltburn were nudging each other when he said that
I met him breifly after the gig he passed me to go to the toliet. I shook his hand and told him to keep using the word spastic because it didn't offend me.
Some of his stuff about Jounglers was really good to and comedy crowds in Liverpool was funny.
A really good act
Off to see Ivan Brackenberry tomorrow at the uni so that should be good!
Brendon also said the dressing room in saltburn was better than the coubard in Darlington
