I'm a singer/songwriter/watercolour artist, based near Beverley in the beautiful county of East Yorkshire, UK. Often performing solo (just me and a gorgeous Fender acoustic guitar), I occasionally play in a small covers band that goes by the name of Pick ‘N’ Mix. My songs aren’t always the ‘singalong’ type, but are quite often ‘thinkalong’, if you get my drift, and even the humorous ones can sometimes have a meaning.
~~~~Songwriting has become a way of life and to take things a bit further I’m now working on my first CD, after spending many years experimenting in the murky world of 4-track tape recorders. This is finally enabling me to make a better job of welding drum patterns, keyboards and bass onto my original song ideas, and you’ll find some of the results here on this myspace page. I’m planning to make a CD of about ten songs available later in the autumn of 2008, so if you would like a copy please send me a message and I’ll make a note of your details.
~~~~I’m always on the lookout for different places to play, so if you’re a promoter and you’d like to give me a gig then please get in touch, either via myspace or by email: jim@danby5.wanadoo.co.uk.
~~~~Thanks for looking and listening~~~~
" border="0" width="325" /> Thanks so much, glad you like it and yours is awesome stuff too. Yeah I know some of it is funny and some of it is petty name calling. Hope you can get past W3z on the chart then we'll be side by side if I stay at the top that is lol. Megany x x x x
Big Neil & myself would love to see you perform one night at the open Mic nights every Thursday at the newly refurbished Grafton Pub (Just off Newland Ave - street next to Sainsbury's!).
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
