Jim Drew and Humble Soul CD Release

Jim Drew, an artist who has performed thousands of concerts over the years, has been able to form a band over the last few years by the name of Humble Soul. in the summer of 2008 they released "Escape Velocity" The CD release party was a huge success in establishing them as professional musicians with a ton of heart and skill and a lot of fun to come and hear. Escape Velocity and it was well worth the wait for this latest project and is now well worth the listen

Jim also has a temporary management agreement with Incubator Creative Group out of Cheshire, Oregon as a solo artist. They have been working on artist development material since March of 2008. In addition to this Jim has been able to produce some music for new artists in Nashville as well as here in Rochester. He has 7 solo albums as well as one with GForce listed on this site and now the ninth CD is with Humble Soul. He also recently had a cut of a cover remake he was commissioned to create of the song "Will The Circle Be Unbroken"

Jim’s solo shows and the shows with the band Humble Soul, are varied and yet have the cohesiveness of a writer with his own style that will keep you intrigued and taking part. As you listen to the songs you might recognize some feels of a rock song or an acoustic tune from one of his solo CDs. You will hear Humble Soul dabble in the blues while adding a hint of jazz to their music, but the heart of it is classic rock with that combination of acoustic and electric. Jim's main influences are acoustic with an edge (like America, Rick Elias, and Randy Stonehill) with classic and classical rock flavors (like Rush, Eagles, Yes, Doobie Brothers and Kansas).

Humble Soul Band Members Include:

Jim Drew - lead voc / acoustic

Daniel Drew - drums.

Jason Engelson - keys / bac vocals.

Jim Schelkun - lead guitar

Scott Cranfill - bass

Sharon DiMuro - bac vocals

Rick Halverson- percussion.

Larry Gimmeli - sound
Influences

Musically: Each member brings so many influences and we use them all but here is a taste.

Kansas, Johnny Cash, Coheed and Cambria, John Couger Mellencamp, Eagles, White Heart, Eric Clapton, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Rick Elias, Alter Bridge, America, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Kutless, GS Megaphone, Rush, too many to name here. .

Jim addspersonal life influences:
Family, Friends, Samme P., C.S. Lewis, Prof Livermore and Prof Judd Decker and then some.
Sounds LikeWe have often heard we have our own sound.
We get all kinds of comments. Someone who just wants one style might say "Why don't you guys just play one kind of music?"

The funny part is right behind them are twenty other folks who say "Man, we love all the different styles of music! It just makes the whole concert so interesting!"

So, we just do what we do.

About Jim Drew & Humble Soul
About Jim Drew & Humble Soul

There is something special about a band that you have not heard before, really has their own sound and yet Rocks the house and you feel like you do know them from note one. They are familiar and yet fresh to the ear and heart. They bring you right into the center of the stage to join them and now you are not just attending a concert but you are enjoying yourself and have become a part of the evening. Though you may have never heard their lyrics before, somehow you find yourself singing along.

If this is what you are experiencing then you are probably at a Humble Soul concert. These guys can really jam and folks like that. Humble Soul brings music and songs that are memorable with melodies (remember those?), and lyrics about real life, all of life, from the humor to the serious; things that we have all have experienced and feel, sometimes to our very soul.

This is not just another Rock ‘n Roll band and time has shown that this is a mix of classic and modern Rock ideas that are both new and familiar at the same time. These guys are eclectic and show chops from the 70s up to now. Time and space are not an object and they are at a point where they probably will reach the largest audience. The older generations will like the lyrics and kudos to yesterday while the young enjoy the modern feels and power that come through the drums and hearts of the band.

Humble Soul is a concert band with lyrics that need to be heard and sung but they can also get a party started or bring an evening to a close when called for. It's at moments like these that an audience knows they are important to the band, and those who come have found that this band becomes important to them as well.

If’n ya like rock, you will like this band!
So here they are, Humble Soul.

“Our desire is to bring an honesty to the stage that only comes from baring our hearts, but through all of the music. We do love good lyrics, but that is only part of the language we present on stage. We also like the feel and conversations of instruments on the instrumental jams. We hope this music will burrow itself into the hearts of people who come to the shows. We want people to walk away having lived through something that impacted them and encouraged them. We don't want to waste anyone's time. These moments with our audiences is what it should be about. That's why we are here”

From the heart of "Humble Soul"

Hey Jim,

How are things going? Haven't seen you over this way in a while. Of course, I miss a lot of things.

I'll probably be in town for Tin Pan. Just got a cut with R&B group Smaltown. They did my What About Today.
