My name is Jim Germanakos, and I'm a Police Officer from Long Island. My nickname is "Jimmy The Greek". My brother Bill, and I were lucky enough to be picked as a contestant on season 4 of "The Biggest Loser" show where we went on to sweep the prizes by losing the most body-weight percentage. Bill lost 164 pounds which was 49%, and I was the biggest weight-loser on the show losing over 51% with a weight loss of 186 pounds. "Dedication-Motivation-Education" is one of my mottos, and I challenge all you guys to utilize it to help you hit your goals too. My father always used to say; "The only way to get something done, is to get it started!" Get it started, and you're on your way! I started on the Jillian's Black Team, but was voted off relatively early, leaving in week five. I was the first one voted off my team, and was forced to come home and train alone, with only the support of my family and friends keeping me on track. I had lost 54 pounds on the 'Campus' but then came home and lost another 132 pounds on my own. I did all this while continuing to work full time as a police officer, and while functioning as a husband, dad, and homeowner. I even spent a week at Boy Scout Summer Camp with my son. I hope that my success shows people that it really can be done at home... by normal people...with normal schedules. One thing that I did different was to take full advantage of the group training sessions offered at the gym, such as cardio-kickbox, and spin. Those classes do wonders for keeping you motivated! I am now doing my best to make myself available to help others with my knowledge and experience by being very available, and easily contacted, as I promised I would. I currently train at one of three gyms on Long Island; Xtreme Gym in Bellmore, Fitness Incentive in Babylon, or Gold's in Deer Park or Islip.
My wife Valerie, and my three beautiful and athletic kids, sacrificed a lot during my time competing on the show, and I appreciate it, and love them all more than I could say here with words. Thanks guys!
I'm also known professionally as "Jim-The Singing Cop" from "The Rosie O'Donnell Show". I love to sing the "Great American Standards" made popular by the legendary "Chairman of the Board" Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, The Rat Pack, Dean Martin, and others! I hope to be sharing my love of this music with everybody very soon. My three kids all have "Frank" on their IPODS. I think that's great!
