"Absolute killer voice!" –Nancy Lackner, Three Rivers Productions
"A captivating performer" –John Soeder, Cleveland Plain Dealer Music critic
"Jim Croce with warmth and range!" –producer Jim Ballard, Skylyne Studios
"A quiet intensity much like Greg Brown and John Gorka" –Cleveland Free Times
"Like a pint of Guinness in a room full of Miller Lite, Jim Gill stands out among Ohio singer/songwriters." –Medina Gazette
Jim Gill is rapidly making a name for himself as a must-see act on the Northcoast. Audiences all over Ohio have been enjoying this performer since 2001. "He writes with more depth than your average poet," writes the Cleveland Free Times, comparing Gill's music to that of John Gorka's. Jim shared the stage with Gorka at the 2005 Village Folk Festival. The Medina Gazette wrote of Jim's work, "music that is sparse, introspective and compelling."
Gill has shared stages with artists as varied as Nashville's, Mary Gauthier at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, Peter Mulvey at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, 70's rock pop star Tommy James and the Shondells to a packed house at the Ritz Theatre in Tiffin as well as Alex Bevan and Michael Stanley at Beachland. His touring has taken him throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Boston, and even up into Vermont at the Middle Earth Music Hall.
Jim was invited to write and perform three new songs for a production of The Laramie Project. In 2006 he finished first runner-up in the Pittsburgh Singer/Songwriter competition and he was a finalist in the '06 Kerrville Folk Festival new song competition in Texas!
Besides 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars and the occasional harmonica, Jim's live shows include a new "techie" wrinkle, a looping device, allowing him to sample his own voice, and then sing over it, creating exciting on-the-fly vocal harmonies.
"Don't miss a chance to catch Jim Gill in concert!" –Cleveland Plain Dealer music critic, John Soeder.
Jim's shows are often punctuated by lively banter with audience members between numbers. Fans also love his outlandish stories culled from a life of being the only son in an Irish Catholic family of ten gives Jim a wealth of outrageous material on which to draw. "He is simply flat out hilarious!" noted Cuyahoga Falls venue owner, Kelly Steele.
"Jim Gill took the stage and lovingly led the audience through the highs and lows of life. His guitar work, sensitive and clever lyrics, and warm stage presence embraced the crowd. We truly felt like we were part of an experience...a relaxed, colorful, beautiful journey, rather than mere patrons at a concert." –Michael Strong, Director, The Ritz Theatre

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
