Here is a Bluegrass band that combines respect for the tradition with a love for theater of the absurd.Named for a race horse and seldom mistaken for the Budapest String Quartet,Ten Broeck searches relentlessly for the perfect audience-and usually finds it.
Now in our third year,Ten Broeck has attracted a wide range of corporate sponsorship including: Castor Magic(The Carbonated Castor Oil that Bubbles Your Troubles Away);Dr. Ranger Mark's Cut Rate,Cat Spay,Drive Thru Clinic;
Explosives Supply,Hunter's Livermush,and the Greene County Home for the Bewildered.(None have been willing to provide actual money,but we keep hoping.)
Ten Broeck travels the highways extensively in our quasi-trustworthy bus,Kramden(AKA: Wreck of the Old 97), to perform at
festivals,colleges,community events,coffee houses,worship services,pea shellings,quilting bees,Bar Mitzvahs,harvest celebrations,and apolitical rallies.
We host the monthly "Livermush Cafe" concert series sponsored by the McDowell Arts Council Association of Marion, NC.
2007 found the band traveling throughout the Eastern US.In February we played the main stage at the SPGMA convention in Nashville.In March we toured the Gulf Coast with performances in Biloxi and Gulfport, MS and Birmingham,AL. We headlined the Brown Mountain Lights Festival in Linville Falls, NC, did tours of Central VA and Central PA and played more than 50 dates in locations as diverse as Hamilton,OH, Chapel Hill, NC, Bulls Gap, TN,
and Kernersville, NC.
Many of Ten Broeck's concerts are broadcast live via steam powered satellite
to literally units of homes throughout the Low Prospects, NC metropolitan area.This signal is heard on more radios than any other household appliance.
