Jimi ’the human’ Hocking has been a familiar sight to Australian audiences for many years. Fronting ‘Jimi the human & Spectre 7’, touring as lead guitarist in ‘The Screaming Jets’ and even as a one time member of ‘The Angels’.
Jimi has released a large body of solo work (12 albums), from electric rock and blues, to contemporary folk and even blues mandolin.
In 2008 Jimi was pronounced the ‘VicTas Male blues artist of the year’ and also ‘Producer of 2008’ for his work on his album ‘Blue Mandolin’.
Previously he has been a three time ‘CAV-Best Acoustic performer’, ‘MBAS 2003 Male Blues Artist of the Year’, ‘MBAS 2004 Blues Performer of the Year’, and in 2005 Jimi won the prestigious ‘International Blues Challenge’ in Memphis USA, and toured the US extensively.
The new rocking electric guitar album, ‘Electric Mojo Machine’ has just been released, and has Jimi back on his vintage ‘Gold Top Les Paul’ playing a more ZZ Top/Gary Moore style of blues again.

Hi Jimi We're a young band and we've got our first gig on 19th September. We play older blues and rock and we're trying to get the venue to have more of this type of gig than Country and DJs If we can get some big numbers there I think we can convice them. We'd love it if it was at all possible for you to get there and show a bit of support for young bands and dad says he might be able to get the 2 blues harps back that you borrowed from him when Nighthawk was "The Lone Star Cantina" about 20 years ago :)
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
