  • Bio

Currently the guitarist with British AOR legends FM and working on a Rory Gallagher project with Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake) and Dave Levy and Rich Newman from Rorys band. I was born in the 70's in good old Cheshire. Been playing music since I was at school. I'm not bad on the old guitar and also do a bit of the folllowing: piano, harmonica, bass, singing, songwriting, pedal steel.......and triangle! I've had the pleasure to work with Thea Gilmore, Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Steve Overland (FM), Zak Starkey, Robbie McIntosh, members of Rory Gallaghers band, members of Lindisfarne, Mary Lees Corvette and have played at many major festivals throughout the world including V, T In The Park, Calgary Folk etc.. Also made numerous TV and radio appearances (check the blog) and been on a few records (including my own released in 2006). I continue to gig under my own name and accompanied by 'Heavy Weather'. Check out all forthcoming gigs!! Blues Matters review. A purposeful and biting guitar intro pulls us straight into this set as 'going to Ground' tells a contemporary blues tale, with a strong structure and flow to boot. This is a set of originals with a nice sense of space and conviction in the lyrical delivery. Our man Kirkpatrick has a strong suit in punchy intros and most of these numbers could start a live set, no problem. An edgy slide sound is also featured to great effect. A veteran of several quality bands and a current conspiritor of Thea Gilmore, this chap has a good ear for a song and a natural arrangers sixth sense, presumably put to use with his other project Heavy weather. I like the tinge of acoustic/Americana that comes to the fore here and there. The album plays well as a result and 'Heavy Weather' is strikingly near Roadhouse/Storm Warning territory, as such a good performance or two would likely put Mr Kirkpatrick in Blues Matters! readers' good books. WILSONTKING IN DEC ISSUE OF GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE OUT NOW !

    Classic Rock Magazine

Both Hendrix & Beck would approve of the visionary guitar work of Wilson's debut. There's talent here.

    Total Guitar Magazine

"While King takes inspiration from the fiery styles of Hendrix and Beck, his aggressive legato style still manages to sound fresh in a seriously crowded genre. "Follow Your First Mind" remains a standout blues-rock guitar release".

    Blues Matters Magazine

A stunning guitarist, this album is a real revelation. Vigilante man is epic, this is a man who is obviously in love with the sound of the electric guitar but he is also one of those rare souls who can make music with it .

There are ghosts all over this album but they are standing and applauding a man who plays Blues in the classic manner but with a modern head-I cant help but join them.

    Guitar International

"Is an energetic, genuinely original record that seamlessly blends blues and rock influences .

A- for originality, something that is far too scarce these days in any genre . This record is a must-hear for fans of any genre of guitar music"
