Some time ago, two frineds of mine, each unacquainted with the other told me that what I really needed was an electric guitar. Although I grew up on a steady diet of rock'n'roll; the Beatles, Byrds, various groups out of San Francisco, and underground FM radio station KINK out of Portland Oregon, the thought had never ocured to to me that that's the kind of guitar I needed. I had played on a few here and there, and quickly grew bored.
By 1975 I had quit listening to rock altogether And by the 1980s I had gotten heavily into performing traditional folk music. I also began dabbling with songwriting. What you're listening to now is what I've been playing for many years.
To make a rather long story short, I took my friends' advice and began hunting up an electric guitar that interested me; a guitar that I could branch out into something at least tangentially related to what I had been playing and singing for the last twenty odd years.
Enter the Rickenbacker guitar. I rediscovered The Byrds and Roger McGuinn while surfing the net looking for something different. Seeing a couple of video clips of McGuinn's playing, I thought "That's it!"
Eventually, this page will be devoted entirely to the music I play with my Rickenbacker model 360 12 string. Of course you're always welcome to visit my acoustic, unplugged web site at my
official web page.
Meanwhile, until the Awaited One arrives, here are a couple of videos shot at Kansas City's Songwriter's Circle Songpull.
