Jimmie Morales is one of the most influential salsa congueros of his generation. His deep, rich, captivating sound and uncanny sense of pulse have made him a musician's pick for hundreds of recordings. You can hear his driving tumbaos, crisp slap and ultra-precise, imaginative fills with Willie Rosario, Frankie Ruiz, Juan Luis Guerra 440, Jerry Rivera, Tito Rojas and countless others.
As member of the enormously popular Gilberto Santarosa Orchestra, Morales has performed across Latin America, Europe, Japan and the United States, playing at prestigious venues such as, Puerto Rico Fine Arts Center, Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall and Hollywood Bowl, among others. Morales' playing is showcased on several compact discs by Gilberto Santarosa Orchestra, including a live recording at the Carnegie Hall and another one in Caracas, Venezuela.
Morales was born in the State of Connecticut, and as a child was an avid Beatles fan. At age nine he moved with his parents to Puerto Rico, and there, surrounded by Latin Music, he caught the percussion fever.
