Band MembersJimmy C is the leader, the singer, the guitarist, the man with the impossibly curly hair and the smile of Gene Wilder.

Mr A - Antonio Lorenzo - is our multi-instrumentalist - he can't get them all on the back of his motorbike but has played Tenor Sax, Alto and Soprano sax with the band, has featured clarinet and electric violin as well - and he's impossibly good-looking and single too!

Paul - regular original bass player can't play every gig so you might also find Lakis on bass or the ever young Alex dMochowski - and when Alex plays we are not worthy - just check that name out in cyber space. And not forgetting BigAndyonbass - how could we?

Stevie Bray - original drummer - was Toyah's drummer in the late 70's, early 80's - like Paul he can't make every gig so you might also find Phil Overhead - a model of jazzy restraint - or Joachim Greve - a tall and talented actor as well as a superb technical drummer who featured in the sadly missed Phenomenal Pound Puppies with John Hobson (a great mate - we still miss you John) and has worked with John O'Leary and Pete Brown. Occasional drummers with the Bluesdragons have included Derek and even Sam Kelly - and like Alex - we are not worthy! Stevie is moving on to a new headlining rock band called Belief but will be seen on some gigs for old time's sake we hope!

Look out for Jessie Pie on some gigs - Jessie is steamy burlesque blues and rock singer - and the band really enjoy the change to a selection of rock classics.

Ziggy is our occasional keyboards player - and if we ever find a gig willing to pay-up gives, with Jessie, the Bluesdragons Big Band line-up and rock and soul review - you know you want us all!

InfluencesWhere to start and where to finish?

Taking their cue from the british blues invasion of the West Coast of America and Canada in the late 60's they present an eclectic mix of blues standards from Robert Johnson - as seen through the glasses of Cream - through BB King, Chuck and Bo, the Stones, John Lee Hooker, James Brown, Steve Miller and George Thorogood- but enlivened by the unusual instrumental line up which gives them a sound which is refreshingly different from the harmonica stylings of most British bands playing through the Chicago tradition (lets all toast Cyril Davies). The band also play some psychedelic rock but always with a smile - the aim is to get you dancing

Don't get us wrong Jimmy plays some neat harmonica himself on a couple of numbers but this is an unusual sounding band in today's blues market.

Sounds LikeYou can only say they sound like themselves! Check the band and you'll see what we mean - and the rotating rythmn section means that the band sounds fresh every time they play.

About Jimmy C and the Bluesdragons
Jimmy C is a Canadian who came to Britain via Japan - yes the long way round - and determined to make a name for himself. Originally hooked up with Mississippi John L Watson Jimmy formed his own band 8 years ago. Hoping to play a gig a month they rapidly escalated to playing up to 5 gigs a week. Current residencies include Ain't Nothin But - the blues bar in Kingly Street W1, where they play every fortnight, and the Finsbury where burleque blues singer Jessie Pie usually joins the band for an eclectic set running from Nin Simone to Wild Cherry. The first album - Snakecharmer - a collection of Jimmy C songs and a few traditional covers seems to have sold out but a selection of songs from it can be heard here, all selections are written by Jimmy. The new album, written by Jimmy in it's entirety is out now and tracks from it will appear here soon.

NB. Please forgive me if I've already sent you these details or if you live a million miles away from London ( I've got alot of folks to contact so these kinda comments can be a touch indiscriminate):

Finally, i have the opportunity to hook up with my London myspace friends n' fans for a drink & a chat.. I'll be doing an intimate acoustic music biz showcase tomorrow night in Hammersmith, and you're cordially invited to come on down! The evening will be webcast live on the net, and is free to attend (i repeat, absolutely FREE!)..

The date is May 23rd (Wednesday night), and I'd recommend arriving by 8.30pm.. I'll be performing 6 songs (from Diary Of A Drowning Man + a couple of yet to be recorded newbies), and will stick around for the rest of the night to socialise! Please feel free to grab a hold of me & introduce yourself..

The details are:

23 May 2007, 20:15
The Regal Room (at the "Distillers")
64, Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith, London, W6 9PH

for more details, check out: http://www.myspace.com/theregalroom

I hope you can make it.. please drop me a private message if you're planning on coming so I can get a rough estimate of numbers..

Look forward to seeing you there!

Lotsa love,
Todd xx

ROCKWORKZ

May 17 2007 6:34 PM

Cheers to everyone that came down to BarMonsta to see us play there for the last time recently. It was a rocking night and a good way to end our residency there.

ROCKWORKZ will be back soon at our new venue, the Purple Turtle, Crowndale Rd, Camden, just next to Mornington Crescent tube station.

We'll be there every Sunday afternoon from July 8th, (time to be confirmed, but probably from 2pm till 6), featuring Men & Gods singer Marc Eden, who Slash called "one of the greatest Rock n' Roll singers I have ever heard", and Henry Rundell from Voodoo Six, who's been described as "the best voice to come out of the British music scene in the last 10 years", plus various members of Voodoo Six, Men & Gods, Crowning Glory, Cavalar, Zodiac Mindwarp and guests...

Playing Classic Rock from Audioslave and Alice in Chains to Zeppelin, via Purple, Sabbath, AC/DC, etc etc...

And it's FREE!

Not just a Rock Covers Band...
Ale
