JIMMY COUP
Singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, and collaborator Jimmy Coup has made his life a mission of creating, writing, performing and recording with the finest musicians he can find. Born in New Jersey, Jimmy moved to remote Circle Pines, Minnesota at thirteen where he met a local music legend, Alex McNeil who became his big brother and fed his interest in rock and metal. Alex challenged Jimmy, “You should learn how to play guitar.” When Metallica’s Ride the Lightning was released in 1984 Jimmy understood how music could change the world. At a Metallica show in 1986 Jimmy scammed his way into the first row and unfurled a banner that Ross Halfin captured on film and was put in the Metallica Damage Inc. tour book. The day after that show Jimmy picked up a guitar took his friend’s advice and six months later formed a rock band with Steve Wresh called The Coup de Grace.
