I'm inspired by anything with a strong melody, or something with interesting, or unexpected harmony, or a solid groove. Great production catches my ear as well. Genre is irrelevant.
That being said, if asked, I would say Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Donald Fagen, James Taylor, The Beatles, Gino Vanelli, Larry Carlton... these are some of the first that come to mind, from a very deep well...
The tracks that are playing are little montages I threw together, demonstrating some of what I do. Track one shows some of my guitar work and programming, while the second track shows some of my string/orchestral programming.
"Great", you say... "but who the heck are you?" Well, I've been working as a session musician and producer in Nashville for the past 18 years. I've produced records for Curb, Word, Springhill Music, Maranatha, as well as many Independent labels and artists.
I've also had the pleasure of working in the studio with a variety of major Christian, Country and Pop Artists, such as SheDaisy, 4 Him, Brad Paisley, Jamie O'Neal, Jim Brickman, Bebo Norman, Jennifer Paige, Buddy Jewel, Michelle Wright, Tim Hughes, Monty Allen, Tim Rushlow, Bruce Carroll, Wayne Watson, Nicol Sponberg(Selah), Kaci, Jonathan Pierce, and Joy Williams, to name a few.
