PSALM is an extraordinary CD recorded in 1998 by virtuoso tenor saxophonist Jimmy Halperin and the legendary pianist Sal Mosca, who died in August 2007. It is an uninterrupted 49-minute duet, comprised of seven ingenious jazz lines by Jimmy, as arranged by Sal, improvisations on the lines, and free jazz interludes. Sal Mosca was a student of the great improviser and teacher Lennie Tristano. Jimmy Halperin also studied with Lennie Tristano, then later with Warne Marsh and Sal Mosca. Jimmy's music should be heard by any serious appreciator of jazz improvisation.
Jimmy Halperin has authorized this MySpace page, which Jon Easton, as the proud producer of PSALM, has put up in order to spread the word about this extraordinary music (and perhaps even to sell a few copies).
