Jimmy Lee Hannaford is a songwriter and performer whose roots stretch back to his native Mississippi, where he soaked up the sounds of Delta bluesmen as well as R&B, rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, folk, country, funk and soul.
Now this talented performer found a home in coastal Alabama after enjoying 10 years as part of the thriving music scene in Austin, Texas. Since moving to Fairhope in 2007 he has performed regularly along the Alabama, Mississippi and Florida coasts, finding new audiences for his smooth, confident singing and his considerable skills on guitar, harmonica and bass. He has been a featured artist each year at the L. A. (Lower Alabama) Songwriters Festival and in 2008 made his debut at the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival.
Jimmy Lee is a familiar talent on the Gulf Coast scene, entertaining listeners as a solo performer, alongside other area musicians and with his own funky blues outfit, The Hip Waders. He is working on a followup to his acclaimed CD Outside In which features contributions from some of his stellar musician friends in Austin.
Songwriting and performing influences include Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Willie Dixon, Steve Forbert, Elvis Presley, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, Greg Brown, Wet Willie, Rosanne Cash, Tony Joe White, Eliza Gilkyson, Jon Dee Graham, Beanland, The Tangents and Duff Dorrough ... and many more.
