REVIEWS: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Where There's Smoke There's Fire, Jimmy Radcliffe (Media Creature Music / 12x12)--Classic 60s soul from a performer better known as the writer of one of this posthumous anthology's highlights, "Deep in the Heart of Harlem," a hit for both Clyde McPhatter and Walter Jackson. Radcliffe's masterwork was "Stand Up," written after a brief encounter with Martin Luther King, Jr. Radcliffe was also a first-rate demo singer and included here is the demo for "This Diamond Ring," a song he didn't write (blame that on Al Kooper and his co-conspirators) but to which he brings amazing soul. - Dave Marsh – Rock Rap Confidential ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Absolute magic, I love the sound on the alternative takes of 'Long after.. & My ship Is Coming In'. I'll be listening to it lots of times before I review it in issue 60 of Soul Up North, but I think its safe to let you know that it will be getting a massive thumbs up from me and a hearty MUST BUY rating. Al the best for now..
