Music, cars, beer, movies, strategy games, beer, trivia, baseball, beer, crossword puzzles, good books, beer... Sensing a pattern here? I like beer. Not just to get drunk, but I like the taste, I like the different styles, I like the history. Forget wine, I'm a beer lover.
Music
You name it, I'll listen to it at least once. I may try to incorporate it into my music if I like it enough. Classic rock, metal, country, rap, jazz, blues, even gregorian chants, korean folk music and middle eastern trance. If it can be called music I'll probably find something to like about it.
Movies
First and foremost: BOONDOCK SAINTS! "You look scary rock!" If it has explosions and whoop-ass I'll probably like it. If Steve McQueen is in it, I'll probably like it. Same for John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, John Belushi, and Val Kilmer. If I had to round out a top five list of movies after Boondock Saints it'd be (in no particular order): Tombstone, Bullitt, Blues Brothers, and Grosse Pointe Blank. I love a movie that makes me think too. If it has guns and both brains I'm gonna like it.
Television
Not much good to say about TV in the modern era. Some good stuff out there like Law & Order, CSI (and the Miami version sometimes), The Unit and Family Guy... Mostly I prefer older TV. Miami Vice was awesome (and it makes a great drinking game). Barney Miller and Taxi were two of the best shows to ever get broadcast.
Books
Tom Clancy is probably my favorite author, his books continue to hold my interest after countless re-reads (except for Red Rabbit. If you're reading this Tom, that one stank). My taste in books is similar to my taste in movies, I want action, and I want it to make me think. Steven King, Frederick Forsythe, Clive Barker, Caleb Carr, Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett also rank up there as authors I admire. For those of you who thought Buffett only wrote music, I recommend that you find and read "Where is Joe Merchant." Sure it ain't "Old Man and the Sea" but it is entertaining.
Heroes
There are too few of them in the world by far. My father is my biggest hero, though he may be surprised to hear that. My grandfathers also rank up there at the top along with a few uncles and aunts and my mother. My cousin Skip was also a hero, though I didn't know how to tell him when I had the chance. I may want to play drums like Neil Peart or John Bonham, or tell jokes like John Belushi or George Carlin, or Drive like Parnelli Jones or Mika Hakkinen; but my family showed me how to be human. I may not be the person I want to be yet, but they show me the target to aim for.
About me: I'm a musician trapped in a salesman's job. I grow older but not up. I'm on MySpace 'cause someone said she'd kick my ass if I didn't show up here.
I have an idea for a TV show...It'll be like the "Biggest Loser" or "Celebrity Fit Club" but with a couple of dominatrix abusing those that don't exercise enough. Whips cracking...sweaty fat people on the treadmill-it will be a family show of course. People tied up just a few feet from ho hos and donuts.
Hi! Wanted to let you know that Christopher John's (Stabilo) new solo EP is now available online! Thought you might like to have a listen and add him: http://www.myspace.com/christopherjohnband
You know, Gross, you are right. If ever I need to get to the root nerve of the situation, all I need to do is get your insight into the matter. For what it is worth, again, thanks for keeping me out of the wacko-shack. You are right, though, fuck 'em. They aren't, and probably never were, worth the effort. :)
Looks like Micheal Phelps could have used your moral guidance Gross. I know you would have said: "For God's sakes man use your head you are an athlete! Eat pot brownies-think of your lungs!"..."they look innocent in photos"...You are like the Bill Bennett of sinful living...
"In 2007 Islam and Judaism's holiest holidays overlapped for 10 days. Muslims racked up 397 dead bodies in 94 terror attacks across 10 countries during this time... while Jews worked on their 159th Nobel Prize."
