    Upstate New York native James Tierney began his comedy career in his Sophomore Year of undergraduate college participating in the annual comedy contest put on by the Activities Board. The hard work of preparing his college-related humor paid off as he placed second among ten peers to take home the big prize of a 100 dollar mall gift certificate. Since then the 22-year-old has only expanded in shows, material and mostly having fun. Given an opportunity to open for New Jersey comedian Jay Black (www.jayblackcomedy.com) at Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY, James showed off his potential and was offered other opening spots for Jay at Union College in Schenectady NY and Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica NY. James has also opened for Steve Byrne (www.stevebyrne.com), the host of the new hit series The Real Wedding Crashers on NBC. Besides colleges James has been seen doing the local comedy scene in Western Massachusetts and has shared the stage with Sugar Sammy (www.sugarsammy.com) at the Comedy Works in Montreal, Quebec (www.comedyworksmontreal.com) and Gary Menke (www.myspace.com/garymenke) at the Funny Bone (www.hartfordfunybone.com) in Manchester CT. Not knowing where this comedy will take him James takes every stage with enthusiasm and passion for the art of comedy. James is now located in Southern California trying to obtain his PhD in Economics. Well the Bio says a lot but it is not as personal as I would like it to be. SO... I am currently a first year Graduate student at UC-Irvine studying Economics.
