JIM TAFT: Me, Too
Former "FOOLS" drummer lays out 14 original tunes ranging in style from rockin' americana-blues to tender love songs, groove-infused pop and straight ahead comedy. Jim's chameleon-like voice changes color to fit each piece.
Jim has been a professional musician for over 25 years, playing drums since he was 11 and playing and singing in clubs, concerts and functions since he was 15. He attended Berklee College of Music starting in the mid-80's, which exposed him to new styles and "opened me up as a musician and a human being." He played and sang in numerous shows (including concerts for George Martin and Phil Collins) and worked on the crew at the Berklee Performance Center. After graduating, he played for three years with the New England party band, 'The Fools'. "That experience changed me forever. Those guys are the funniest and nicest guys on the planet, and their incredible musicality, coupled with their irreverent humor influenced me in ways I will never stop feeling." Since finishing his time with the Fools, Jim has played in a few club and function bands - "The Brave Brothers", "The Johnny Secret Band" and "Modern Manners/Doghouse", to name a few. He also did some recording and performing with "Red Peters" and to date, has recorded three CD's of original material. In 1992, Jim married his longtime love, Heather Nimmons, and they have three children together. "I'm in a very cool place right now. I'm at home with the kids, I'm married to THE most wonderful woman, and I'm writing and recording my own stuff. I couldn't be happier."
Oh yeah...that song "Brickhouse" was sung to me, even if I wasn't there at every gig by my good friend Jim...I remember it well and every time I hear it I smile and think of good times hanging out.
