Poetry. Honest writing.
scenes in my head. movies i'll never write.
those moments that leave you reeling. gasping for air, or explanation.
lovers, rebels, geniuses, and fools.
"Read widely of others experiences in thought and action - stretch to others even though it hurts and strains and would be more comfortable to snuggle back in the comforting cotton-wool of blissful ignorance! Hurl yourself at goals above your head and bear the lacerations that come when you slip and make a fool of yourself. Try always, as long as you have breath in your body, to take the hard way, the Spartan way - and work, work, work to build yourself into a rich, continually evolving entity!"
-Sylvia Plath, Journals
A BIO ... of sorts...
It’s hard to know where to start… I took on classical piano at age 5 and hated it, but my evil sadist mother wouldn’t let me quit…then in fifth grade, big sister introduced me to Alanis Morrisette’s album “Jagged Little Pill.” It was the best thing to ever happen to me (still might be)…. i spent my entire adolescence serving time at an all girls school. Somewhere during those years, i picked up guitar and started writing my own stuff. I got to college with my shiny purple ibanez acoustic-electric and that’s actually kind of where it starts…
I don’t like to categorize my music, but some people that inspire me are Alanis Morrisette, Regina Spektor, Maria Taylor, and The Weepies. I’ve played at a bunch of colleges in the Boston area (Harvard, Tufts, Amherst, Wellesley) and other venues (Kennedy’s, All Asia). I took my act to the UK last year and performed weekly at the historic Turf Tavern in Oxford… I’m now back in my native Los Angeles and just released my first CD, a 6-song EP titled “Red Eye”…. it’s got all different aspects of jinah… from straight-up acoustic guitar to rockin’ electric guitar riffs… angsty kiss-offs, contemplative musings on life, a WURLY on track 1!!… check it out, DOOO it :)
hey, i am so sorry.. i won't be able to make it. i just got my work schedule and i have to work the night shift that night from 6- 10:30, i am going to see if i can change it to the day shift... keep our fingers crossed
