Wikipedia recognizes Coven as responsible for printing the first version of a Black Mass available to the public.
The book "Lords of Chaos" recognized Coven as THE pioneering occult rock band...as did "Lucifer Rising".
. . . with a stage show "that puts many of the modern Satanic, Goth & METAL bands to shame."
If rock&roll is the Devil's music, then Coven represents THE definitive rock&roll group,as shown in above 1968-69 photos where Jinx is the 1st to give the "Sign of the Horns" on a rock stage, reads incantations & the human crucifix was inverted at the end of the concerts.
Listen if ye dare, O children of the night . . . But to listen once is to be changed FOREVER . . .
. . . there will be no turning back . . .

Coven's True Gothic Horror Folk Tales Lyric Backgrounds & Origins
"For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" When criminals were executed in olden Europe & beyond & not so olden America, their crime was written in an abbreviated manner, just the first letter of each word & nailed above their head. Thus when innocent witches were burned at the stake, their crime was written above their heads.Usually witches were burned "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". Meaning the witch had carnal knowledge of the devil. This crime was abbreviated down for the stake. It has become English's most common slang term for sex.
"The White Witch Of Rosehall"
The Imfamous White Witch of Rosehall is a true documented tale of a Jamaican Lady of high birth who dabbled in the local island Obeah practices of voodoo. To gain her beloved's heart, she killed his paramour through the powers of that Montego Bay religion.
"Black Sabbath"
This now infamous song,Black Sabbath, recorded in 1968, was Coven's interpretation of an olden witches Sabbat through Gothic Rock Opera. The song's title, almost 2 years later, would become the name of another rock band who would also bear a member with the same sounding name as Coven's bass player, Ozzie Osborne.
"Coven In Charing Cross"
The mystical area of England's Charing Cross has always given rise to magick folklore. On her 1st trip to England, Jinx visited Charing Cross & several secret groups residing there to pay homage to this song.

What can one say about her group Coven? Well, for starters, they were the first rock group to flirt with overtly Satanic imagery . . . in songs and onstage as well. They dressed in ALL black at a time when most young people wore the typical psychedelic threads of the era. And what about the now ubiquitous "horned hand salute" that people use at concerts and sporting events? Coven 1st started using it in rock musick back in 1969, as evidenced by the photos which grace their "Witchcraft" album (below). And this "Sign Of The Horns" can be found on every Coven album since.Wikipedia, among many other sources recognizes Jinx & her Coven as "the Seeds of Heavy Metal".
This is THE underground MySpace page of Jinx Dawson. Before the bands Black Widow, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Dio, King Diamond & Mercyful Fate, Kiss, Marilyn Manson and many, many others came Jinx, nimble vocalist of the Coven who conceived Heavy Metal, Gothic, Satanic Rock and even LA Punk and New Wave with her later offshoot group, The Equalizers.

(One of Many References)Review by Joe Viglione
The debut LP from the group Coven is noteworthy for reasons more historical than musical. That is not to say it is a bad record; it is more of an interesting record that is unique and listenable. With an elaborate package released on Mercury in 1969, a good trivia question can be made of the fact that bassist Oz Osborne performs on this album, whose opening track is "Black Sabbath," while John "Ozzy" Osbourne of Black Sabbath was allegedly busy playing bass in Magic Lanterns, hitting the Top 30 in 1968 with "Shame, Shame" (Ozzy listed as Mike Osbourne with Magic Lanterns! ). That the group Black Sabbath formed in 1969 when this album was issued seems to indicate that Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls may have had more than a little influence on the more popular heavy metal band.

The Goth Queen...The Magick, The Myth & The Mystery
Magick continues to play a big role in the life of Jinx Dawson, the Goth Queen . . . and of course, this is reflected in her music. The words "music" and "magic" share more than just being five-letter words that begin with the letter "m", the 13th letter of the alphabet. (Jinx favors the number 13. She was born on a Friday the 13th, delivered by a Dr. Jinks). Indeed, magicians in the northern regions of Europe were called "rune-singers".
Many myths surround the legend of the Goth Queen . . . However, the word "myth"-information -- if such a word existed -- would definitely be more appropriate when considering the half-truths & urban legends proliferating about her & Coven on the internet. Ultimately, we will set the record straight...
Yea, the Goth Queen's mysterious legend will be revealed in time . . . Only horror novelist H.P. Lovecraft could have imagined a story stranger than the chronicle of her life . . .
Come now, all ye who fear not the dark side . . . This MySpace page calleth out unto all of you! Ere long, we shall receive revelations from the Coven oracle . . . Yea, the lid to the bottomless pit hath been opened by the Goth Queen, and the smell of brimstone now filleth the whole universe. This MySpace page representeth the DARKEST SHADES of the Coven.
The legendary Black Book of the Witches' Sabbath hath been found . . . And as Jinx prepareth the oils and ungents under the light of the moon, we shall dance with the devils to the pounding beat of the Coven!

O my Goddes ! The honour is totally and completely mine to have a answer from you ! I could send my soul to pass a few minutes by your side ... send me some links to I know more about your life and what you do recently ok? I love you !!!
Put together the first music video for one of the songs, that being for the song "Eel Marsh House", which is based on the movie "The Woman In Black". Wasn't sure to name it that instead of 'Eel Marsh..." ...Eel Marsh House being where the woman in black 'lived', and now haunts it. Though, she seems to haunt the general area of the village as well as the House. If anyone catches her gaze, looks into her eyes....a child will die, usually from the family of the person unfortunate to look at her. As you see what happens to the story's main character at the end.
Hope you like it, that's about all for now, Cheers! Rob
