I've been designing and creating ever since I was age 10 when I was taught to sew. I come from a long line of craftiness and artistic DIY junkies. My mom loves to cross stitch and seamstress on the side, making her the neighborhood Martha Stewart. My grandpa, is a carpenter and is spending the rest of his retirement days building woodworking crafts and selling them every weekend in Fredricksburg, Texas.
As a tween, I was dissatisfied with the clothes my mom chose for me and with the clothes that were being displayed at our local clothes store. So I took my sewing machine, my sewing kit and redesigned my clothing into wearable pieces of art. As a teenager, after moving to Houston with nothing but the shirt off my back and my shoes, I got a job next door at the comic bookstore to help pay for my stay with my struggling single father. At $15 a day, I learned to budget my money and the thrift store became my best friend. I turned clothing thrown away by others into fashionable envies of people's eyes. I was often asked where I got my clothes and my clothing was always being mistaken for big designers. After marriage and children, my fashion sense never faded away, but after a divorce and resurgence of my identity, I decided to design again, after having several rave reviews and two fashion shows.
