| About JION |
Jion got together in Rome in November, 2003. They are a three piece alternative-rock band. The name “Jion” comes from the word katà used in karate to mean a togetherness of movements representing a fortress.
JION have a full schedule of live performances in various venues and have a large following, and have received airplay on local radio station including Radio Rock.
Their first Ep “Testing the ground” showcases their first five songs, since then JION have written many others.
Their live set covers over and hour of original music and their repertoire is constantly expanding and evolving.
Furthermore, thanks to JION's determination and their Ep, which has received more and more attention from those in the music business, they were invited to take part in a showcase event, the M.E.I. (Meeting of Independent Labels) in Faenza, Italy. Where they presented the video for “I’m not the kind”.
In Spring-Summer 2005 they played in various Competitions and Festivals and they won the “La Selva D’Oro” in Vetralla (Italy) and took 3rd place at the SAN REMO ROCK FESTIVAL, and also they were guest performers on “La Fabbrica della Musica” on the National TV channel RAI Futura.
In Autumn 2005 2nd Ep “One to One” receiving glowing reviews, and JION were invited for second time to perform in the MEI Festival. In June 2006 they performed on the famous national music TV show “Red Ronnie’s Roxy Bar”.
Thay have also played in November 2006 at the “Oh!Bar” in Camdem Town in London.
Now their single “Never Change Yourself” and its VIDEO are receiving a lot of airplay on world wide Radio and Tv: like TOTAL ROCK RADIO UK (a London base radio) - RADIO ONDA BRASIL (from St. Paul Brasil) – RADIO Faycan (Canarian Isles) and many more.
September 2007: “Never Change Yourself” and JION’s interview on-air on National Radio RADIO Due RAI and JION received 2 nominations for “TORONTO EXCLUSIVE AWARDS 2007” (awards for a Toronto’s Magazine) the categories were “Best International Rock Song” and “Best Video” for the single “Never Change Yourself”.12 Dicember 2007 JION were live @ PIPER club in Rome.They go on with their live show and new material!
