I can usually find something I like about the majority of songs I listen to. I've started just collecting music.
Movies
It has to be either really friggin' good or really friggin' stupid. I don't accept anything in between.
Television
Medical shows (House, ER, Scrubs, M*A*S*H*, Grey's Anatomy), stand up comedy (you can't go wrong with stand up), cartoons (Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpons, King of the Hill), and "news" shows (Daily Show and Colbert Report) basically. And of course CNN... even though it *is* CNN...
Books
big fan of fiction. love stories with a twist. or several twists.
I'm a shy quirky person. I'm not really good at these 'tell me about yourself' things... um... I spend most of my time surrounded by music and my awesome friends or at work. Singing releases lots of stress for me, so I spend a lot of time doing that. I have a dog named Brady who is my little ray of sunshine. She's good a cheering people up. :) I live between Humble and Huffman, so it's kinda dull around these parts. I have a passion for making things and being crafty and whatnot. Um.... THE END!!
Who I'd like to meet:
*People who are friendly, have kind souls, and a sense of humor.
*Anyone who knows of a great knitting group in the Humble area
*Night owls
*Explorers (aside from Dora)
Note: I am pimpin' my new chapbook, Marquee (released a couple days ago). If interested go to Marquee Ready for Release (makes sense) in my blog and read/click the link. Heck, go to my blog anyway.
Here's what people are saying about my novella, Monkey Love:
"John Paul Allen delivers well-drawn characters and emotional dynamite in this tale of dark suspense" - Scott Nicholson, author of They Hunger.
"One sadistic piece of work by one of the most talented new voices in dark fiction." - Karen Koehler, author of the Slayer series.
"Disturbing and intense, this story is a one-sit read that races, carrying you along to grim, uncharted terrain." - Lee Thomas, Bram Stoker Award-Winning author of Stained, Parish Damned and The Dust of Wonderland.
"From the first page, Monkey Love draws you into a surreal world that teeters on a disturbing balance of madness, eroticism, and obsession." David Niall Wilson, author of Deep Blue and Ancient Eyes.
"It's a wild ride, and I loved it from first page to last." - John R. Little, author of The Memory Tree and Placeholders.
"Exquisitely well-written, more than slightly twisted and compelling erotica for all horror readers." T.M. Wright, author of the forthcoming Bone Soup and Blue Canoe.
"Monkey Love is my first read by John Paul Allen and I can promise it won't be the last. Touching, peverse, oddly poignant and riddled with interesting questions about the nature of love and obsession, I can't recommend it enough. Monkey Love is the sort of tale that pushes the boundaries of comfortable and makes us question our own morals." - James A. Moore, author of Deeper and Blood Red.
