Life started when a young man was thrown from a car for supporting Billy Sands. Life started at the age of six when Francis showed him how six guns point west. Life does not hold sonnets , daisies and taoist philosophy Life is about the struggle of finger nails clawing at life . Life is not about salutations and deliveries. Life is about loyality , keeping quiet and letting the sun only rise in your bed. Who are you ! , to tell me to cuss in a poem is not very John Keats , Fuck you ! I hope they find you in the Mystic river bed. Who are you to say life is a series of happy moments strung together , Fuck you too ! I hope they find you strung up in the Charlestown naval yard. Who are you to say Henry Miller , William Burroughs , Hunter Thompson , Buk or Nin is not literature ! Fuck you ! I hope they find your head under the tracks of the redline. Life is not salvation , art or cash crops . Life is not a cubicle , Disney or summertime sandwiches . Life is I-Hop gundowns , bad blood let downs and J.J. Foley crackdowns. Life is chaos , greasy wrenches and back of the head - Dead tap entry. Life began with Whitey , A 1974 overthrow , A 1978 bullethole A 1980 handshake a 1985 car ride. Life began with Whitey. Life never began with terror tales from Poe , Life began with Guinness chased by whiskey. Life never had Billy Gram , Life had one day frozen in a year , Saint Paddy's drunken sled. Life began with Whitey. My eyes see it , My family does too. My heart has lived it . now I am through . To see a poem written is the purest nance in my heart. To love something as beautiful as green eyes or a daughters smile . To be schitzo and to be understood. To capture lives with a title in the night. Next time I see you leave when I speak the word " Nazi " , or the fact that I say the word Cunt , Dildo or atrocity . Next time you try to hiss like the hiding FBI snake. Remember my life began with Whitey , Not cotton , art or Christian rivalry . I am the gutters of L-street , The cash crop of Lynn , Stuck deep in the heart of Somerville and vomiting Dorchester.
