Born in 1980 and raised in Kent, South East England. Jay's love for music started by growing up listening to his father's record collection of soul, reggae and rare groove and as a kid picking up love for Hip Hop & House in the late eighties.
In his early teens he was introduced to the rave scene which opened his eyes to the world of the dj. Collecting tape packs and listening to the likes of The Prodigy, Dj Slipmatt, Dj Hype, Dj Randall, Dr S Gachet etc, Jay was instantly addicted to the scene. He began buying records from the age of 14, picking up early jungle classics such as Levitcus 'The Burial' and Krome & Time's 'Ganja Man'.
In 1995 Jay purchased his first pair of soundlab belt driven turntables and was donated an old Gemini mixer. He was hooked, and within a short time he had picked up the art of mixing, spending every bit of spare time practising and making mixtapes for friends. Soon enough Jay began getting gigs at youth events and local parties, playing Drum & Bass, 2 Step Garage and Hip Hop.
In 2001 and as the music changed for both UKG and Drum & Bass and become more MC led, Jay decided to take a few years out of the music scene, but still couldn't drop his love for buying and playing music. Between '03 - '05 he was holding down resident gigs playing hip hop, reggae and early dubstep at local clubs in Kent.
In 2006 Jay decided it was time to get in the studio and start putting his ideas to his own music, and started making Dubstep. Reaching the DMZ dances and catching the vibes reminiscent to the early jungle days, the heavyweight basslines, and the fact that THERE IS NO BOUNDRIES has rebirthed his passion within underground music.
Jay is currently focused on production, and has had his tracks played by many of the top dj's in the scene including Caspa, N-Type and Goth Trad and has had his track 'Cosmo' feature on the Latest Ministry of Sound CD mixed by 'The Cut Up Boys'.
Releases with Argon Records and his own Soul Shakerz imprint have seen his productions available on wax, with more tracks soon to be released on labels such as Dub Police and 2nd Drop (watch this space).
