John Lees and Stuart Woolly Wolstenholme were founder members of Barclay James Harvest, the melodic rock band with classical leanings which emerged from Oldham in the late sixties. Their relationship endured through nine studio albums and two live doubles, the period of BJH's history which most fans regard as their most creative and productive. John stayed with BJH after Woolly left in 1979, and it would be nearly twenty years before the guitar and keyboard legends would work together again.
When it was announced in March 1998 that Barclay James Harvest would be taking a sabbatical, it was effectively the end of the original band. Henceforth the members of the band would be pursuing solo projects, albeit using variations of the Barclay James Harvest name. John renewed his musical friendship with Woolly, and they began work together with bassist Craig Fletcher and drummer Kevin Whitehead under the name Barclay James Harvest Through The Eyes Of John Lees. This line-up recorded an album of half new songs, half re-recordings of BJH classics, entitled Nexus, which was released by Eagle Records in February 1999. A tour of Germany and Switzerland followed and was recorded for the Revival - Live 1999 CD which appeared in March 2000, after which there were more concerts in Germany, Greece and England.
Now re-christened John Lees' Barclay James Harvest, the band completed a very successful UK tour in November 2006, and the London Shepherds Bush Empire concert from that tour has now been released as a live CD and DVD entitled Legacy. Both the DVD and CD, as well as CDs of Nexus and Revival and all currently available albums by Barclay James Harvest, can be ordered from the Barclay James Harvest web site secure mail-order page.
2009 is shaping up to be the most exciting year yet, with both John and Woolly busy writing new material and more live concerts announced, including the band's first gig in the U.S.A., followed by festivals in the UK, Germany and Spain and a tour through the UK and Europe in the autumn. The band's show at the Cambridge Rock Festival on 7th August was broadcast by Radio Caroline, and on 15th August, they played to an audience of 17,500 in Homburg, Germany. Similar numbers turned up at the concert in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate.

Hi, Barclay James Harvest/John Lees Everything well? :) I’m here cos I’m searching for an eurodance singer, no matter if it’s male or female cos I’m planning a commercial dance track and, as you can guess, a singer in this style of music is essential. I wonder if you’d be interested or know about someone who can be interested, of course :) The other reason why I’m here is that I’m searching for remixers for my new techtrance tune ‘Give It A Try’. It will be released in Super 6 Records (Germany) and LAD Records (Portugal). I’m asking radio stations, listeners, etc for support and feedbacks too. I’m trying to be as brief as I can with this comment but, as you can see, I’m not good at all in this :/ Big big thanks for stopping by and much respect:)
Thanks so much for this amazing show yesterday. Finally after 30 years of wait I was lucky to listen to you live in concert. What an experience. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it very much. Take care and keep up this brilliant music.
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around, It brings up some facts, quite profound. We may think that we're poor, Feel like bums, insecure, But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love; We have guidance from heaven above. We have so much more Than they sell in a store, We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say; Make Thanksgiving last more than a day. Enjoy what you've got; Realize it's a lot, And you'll make all your cares go away.
