About me:

.. .. .. .. .. ....
Juvenile Lifers Campaign is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the well over 2,000 children across the country who are serving sentences of life without parole. Our purpose is to educate the public and legislators and to reach out to juveniles and their families. We seek to enact change. Our goal is for juveniles, those who were sentenced as juveniles, or who were sentenced for crimes committed as juveniles, who are already serving life without parole (LWOP) to be resentenced to a sentence bearing the possibility of parole, allowing for the opportunity to rehabilitate our youth as opposed to simply disposing of them into the adult prison system; and to prevent future juvenile offenders from being sentenced to LWOP.
In Roper V. Simmons, a landmark case which ruled it is unconstitutional to sentence juveniles to the death penalty, it was noted that LWOP is a similarly harsh sentence. Sentencing a juvenile to LWOP is, in all reality, no different than sentencing them to death, as life without parole means they will die in prison.

"Throughout the world, only three countries currently have about ..one dozen.. (12) child offenders in total serving life without parole sentences. Given these figures, the United States has condemned ..185 times as many.., to a lifetime behind bars as the rest of the world combined" - Human Rights Watch "Proposal to Establish a National Coalition for Fair Sentencing of Children"

We urge everyone to support the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the passing of HR4300. The US and Somalia are the ONLY countries yet to ratify the CRC, see our blog for more information.

Who I'd like to meet:

Everyone.
