About me:
Hey everyone! I'm Leigh - a 30 years young stay-at-home mom of one little girl, and wife. My family and I currently live in Tornado Alley, otherwise known as Northeastern Kansas. I'm also a woman of multiple talents.
Writing is my first true love. I started developing my skills in 1992; a new girl in a foreign country, I didn't have many friends and writing in a diary everyday kept me from being lonely. I was in high school (1993-1997) when I started writing poetry and short stories. My first publication was in 1997, a short poem in a "paid for" anthology.
Throughout my life, words have been my most cherished friend. They were there when I walked down the aisle, held my hand through childbirth, were a shoulder to cry on when things didn't work out; they have recorded all the ups and downs of my adolescence, the trials and errors of college life, the high points and pitfalls of marriage and motherhood.
In the Spring of 2005, I found another companion - my good friend Jenny. We share a love of writing, and embrace a competitive spirit. She intoduced me to "NaNoWriMo".
National Novel Writing Month (aka "NaNoWriMo", or just "NaNo") is an international challenge to write a
50,000 word novel in 30 days. The challenge starts on November 1st, and runs until November 30th. It is a great inspiration for anyone who has ever thought "I want to write a novel" but has never had time.

Art is my latest "hobby". After years of having people tell me that writing and a degree in English is a waste of time, I decided to try my hand at graphic designs. I enrolled in school, received the art supplies they provided, but was dropped from classes due to financial issues. Since then, I have been using the art supplies from the school to teach myself.
My work is limited due to my "learn as you go" approach, but it has matured in a few short months. When I attempt something new, I work with it for a few pieces until I'm comfortable with it; and then move onto the next new thing.
An artist friend of mine, Diane, introduced me to
DeviantART.
At DeviantART, an artist (or writer or film-maker) can post their works, critique others, collect their favorite pieces, and even
purchase the works of others. It is a large community of traditional and digital artists, writers, photographers, film-makers; there are clubs of every sort - pagan, fan clubs, craft clubs, clubs for the colors of the rainbow, you name it!
My work, both art and writing, is displayed there. Clicking
HERE will take you to My Gallery. My most recent works are Featured, but the majority of my works are in the separate folders in the margin.
