J. MARIE
Originally from Saint Louis. This fabulous, all around performer and entertainer, has a broad, musically influenced background. Being exposed to music from every musical genre from, Jazz to Punk. Singing from the moment she could talk, and writing songs since she was the tender age of thirteen, J. MARIE, (her given name, Julia) has performed for audiences throughout the Mid-West and through San Francisco's East Bay. Creating her own projects including Original and Cover Band projects since the early 90's. She was one of the founding members of the notoriously, funkadelic STL Cover Band, "SON OF STARCHILD", that grew to become the well
established, "BOOGIE CHYLD", opening for national acts such as, "MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME" and "THE OHIO PLAYERS". She became the STL's first Female Nite Club DJ @ Walter Payton's America's Bar. Her specialty spins being the delights of Hip-Hop, Old School Funk and R&B and Chicago's beloved, Deep House. She also has had the pleasure to be one of McDonald's, "I'm Lovin' It" campaign Jingle artists.
J MARIE, sojourned to expand her horizons in the late 90's to San Francisco's East Bay, performing along side some of "THE BAY'S", most popular Cover bands, talented Vocalists, Musicians and Recording Artists.
This is where she found solace and the influences which led to the creation of her not yet released Freshman Independent, Soul/Jazz/Pop/Rock/Reggae influenced project, "LOVE". With enchanting songs like, "Chocolate" , "Heaven (There's No Such Thing As Time)" and "OM (Across between Blue and Green)". You will be especially intrigued by the subject matter in J. MARIE's songs. Reaching from the depths of Spiritual awakening and the love for oneself, on to how the tight grips of love for another, may or may not be transforming for you, on to simply enjoying sensuality in it's rawest form!
J. MARIE, has an "Outside The Box" approach to her songwriting you might experience with artists like, Kelis and Alanis Morrisset. You'll discover, J. MAIRE has a distinct vocal style that is unmatched, while having the vocal warmth you've gotten from great artists such as, Pheobe Snow, Billy Holiday, and Sarah Voghn.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW...SHOVEL...CAUSE BRAND NEW COLD BrrrrrBLOODED BULLSHHHHUKAS IS SOON TO BE UPON US.....BELIEVE WISDOM THAT 1! As my peoples taught me "IT AIN'T NOTHING BUT CHEWED UP GRASS CUZIN..." A little Black girl (UNCLASSIFIED) A stranger was seated next to a little black girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, "Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger." The little girl, who had just opened her coloring book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger, "What would you like to talk about?" "Oh, I don't know," said the stranger. "Since you are a black, do you think that So-called President Elect Barak Obama is qualified for the job?" and he smiles. "OK", she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -grass -. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?" The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea." To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss President Barak Obama... when you don't know shit?"

If you can't find it at your local stores, please ask them to order it. You can listen to some of the songs from the new album on our MySpace page. We hope you check it out! Buy it, download it, steal it ... just tell all your friends, send out a bulletin or a message to them and help us spread the word about our new album around the world.
Tonight as we celebrate, we know that most of what we dislike about the past year is directly linked to choices made for us...by us. We should all whisper a prayer for the millions of people around the world who have no choice as to how they'll simply survive year after year. Those who if given the chance to choose would do so as if their lives depended on every decision made. Remember, you have the freedom of choice. Choose wisely in the years ahead.
I'm looking for all great things to come your way in 2009 and beyond. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Be happy, be healthy, be YOU! Happy New Year! Love, O.B.
I hope you can make it to our New Year's Eve Ball 2008 with Armand van Helden in Houston Wednesday, Dec. 31st! Texas' Largest NYE show. Tickets are super cheap right now if you buy them early. See you soon! Mike with NightCulture

TODAY WE VOTE. Don't forget. Get to the polls and cast your vote. Do not allow your vote to be surpressed. Stay in line, be patient, do not let anyone take away your right.
Make your vote count. Do not believe robocalls telling you to vote tomorrow or that your polling place has changed.
If we want progress, equality, and real positive change, the first change we collectively must make is for all of us to participate in the process by turning out and casting our votes.
The polls can be dangerous places so bring along a BIG group of friends. :)
