After 10 years as both an agent and volunteer in the music industry, Jay has released his debut album "Downtime." "Downtime" is a collection of original songs written from 1994 to 2004 and also includes a track written by folk artist Gordon Lightfoot. Living in Athens since 1992 and working in the late '90s as a tour/road manager for local artists, Jay’s writings and songs were pieced together in cities and towns all over Georgia and North Carolina, and during brief visits to Colorado, South Carolina lowlands, farmlands in Virginia, Tennessee skylines, the foggy coast of Maine, West Virginia mountains, villages of Montana, upstate New York, and Mississippi main streets. Markwalter’s roots in the cultural, historic cities of Savannah and Athens have obviously flavored the songwriting of "Downtime" along with memorable relationships, occasional hardships, numerous road trips, and solid friendships.
