Jonathan Mello has been playing and writing music, in bands and on his own, since he was twelve years old. Now, at age twenty-seven, Jonathan has set out on his own writing, producing, and performing original music in the New England area. His music could be classified as acoustic, pop-rock with a folk-country flare. However, Jonathan’s influences range from Simon & Garfunkel, Chris Cornell, and Ani Difranco, to Counting Crows, At The Drive In, Pearl Jam, and U2.
Growing up in Massachusetts, Jonathan had the opportunity to play in a few moderately successful heavy rock bands. The most successful of these, Fathom, professionally recorded and produced a four-song EP which sold some five hundred copies in the greater Boston area. Additionally, Fathom had the opportunity to perform on the same bill as Primus and System of a Down during their years of performing throughout New England.
In addition to his role as singer, guitarist, and songwriter in Fathom, Jonathan has also played with the acoustic rock trio Miles to Meroë, and currently writes and performs with Nothing to No One, an electric rock band that combines the sounds of U2, Angels and Airwaves, and The Police.
Now, as a solo artist based in Massachusetts, Jonathan has sought to move in a new direction. His latest recording, an eleven song album entitled Underway, combines the sounds of pop, folk, rock, and alt-country. Jonathan is currently in the process of expanding his fan base via live performances and album sales throughout the Northeast region and on the internet.
