Tink, my wife, is the biggest influence in my life and she has been my friend for most of three decades. She is, among other things, a web designer, administrator and statistician for numerous hockey teams and one hockey association. We do find time, occasionally, to rub noses outside of the arctic chill of an ice rink. Oh to be in Montego Bay.

Instrumental: I have played the trumpet since age 7 and love any of the major trumpet players. Maynard Ferguson was a favorite since attending his clinics in junior high; so glad that all of my kids met him before he passed. Chris Botti is probably the most emotive trumpet player today.

About me: UPDATE JULY 1, 2008: Well, best laid plans always get changed... cancer reformed stronger in my liver during radiation treatments so I am back on major chemo cycles every two weeks. This likely dashes all of my hopes for significant travel over the summer, especially the family trip to Disney and the wedding vow renewal in Vegas. My travel is dashed, but not my hopes as I hope that the cancer responds as it did before and can be downgraded to permit surgical resection in the fall. ==========================================================
MAY 2008: Julie and I will likely renew our vows at The Venetian Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in August. (Imagine that, after all this, she still wants me!!!) I am also planning on taking my kids to Disney World, someplace they have never been. Call these my biggest bucket list items and it is important that these be done as soon as my time allows. ========================================================== GOOD NEWS on May 1... my CEA level (a blood marker for metastatic cancer) dropped to 60 from 144 in March. While this is higher than the normal of 3, it is an indicator of how I have been successfully gaining ground on regaining my life. All tumors have shrunk and two have actually disappeared on the CT scan. I hope that my fight continues with success this month. My dreams of playing poker at the WSOP Championship this year are probably fading as my treatments will go through July, but it is still a hope and dream that I will be able to play in some WSOP or WPT major event, maybe at The Borgata in Atlantic City, later this year or next, may God be willing. ===========================================================
APRIL 2008: Diagnosed with Stage IV Rectal Cancer on Valentine's Day and going down the long road to recovery. I pray for a cure and hope to have the strength and determination to face the fight of my life for my life. I will blog my thoughts and experiences along this journey and hope that someone finds some tidbit that may help them in their life. May God bless my friends here today and those who join me in my fight. Most of all, may God bless and keep my wife strong for me as she has become my North Star as I navigate the dark seas that have surrounded me since my diagnosis.

On ice, I am a USA Hockey Level 3 Referee with 1,350 games officiated through the 2008 season and for inline, I hold credentials for the Professional Inline Hockey Association. Off ice, I am involved with the ASTM F08 Standards Committee and the Hockey Equipment Certification Council. My sincere thanks to Jim McCrossin of the Philadelphia Flyers for referring me to two of the best surgeons in the Philadelphia area for my injuries in 2007.

I have had 5 TV appearances and I owe my competitive spirit to Earl Anthony, Dennis Jacques, & Wayne Webb for believing in me so early on. In 2006, my NABI team took 3rd in the Team Championships.
