If you ask Jhae 'Mo'Kha' Lewis to ascribe a title to herself, she will simply tell you she is an artist who chooses to express herself through various mediums.
Ms. Lewis, pens her poetry under the name Mo'Kha and is an emerging orator on the poetic horizon. Her white hot reflective chanting combined with her sultry soulful singing, distinguishes her as a treasured artistic entity creating a buzz throughout the internet.
Mo'Kha's artistic ambition is to break away from the cookie cutter molds the music industry seems to regurgitate and carve out a distinctive style that echoes the spirit of iconic legends from her past and at the same time give you a lil' sumthin' sumthin' you can feel.
It has been said the vibrant images she conjures read like a melodic refrain that saturates your soul. Most fans appreciate the humbling spirit that is not only perpetuated in her writing but in her demeanor as well.
Jhae Mo'Kha Lewis is a shining star whose light has yet to reach our atmosphere. We anticipate the illumination her creative presence will bring.
In Her own words
Writing & Poetry:
“Of all the gifts I've been given, writing is what I treasure essentially. As with most, it has been a release for me and a ritualistic cleansing of my soul.
Performing & Music:
"I hit the stage at the age three and fell in love. I truly believe performers are born, not made. The passion as with anything, must live in the heart and soul of the entertainer.
I think I like the 20's &40's in regards to clothing & style, everyone looked so polished and classy. But musically I would have to say from the 60's through the mid 90's. It's evident in today's music that I wasn't the only one heavily influenced by those decades.
On Hip-Hop:
" First let me say I love hip hop, we grew up together. But there is an element of disingenuous artist, perpetuating mythical experiences and culturally destructive images that I feel is distorting the perspective of a whole generation. Personally, I strive to stay true to myself and the original spirit of Hip-Hop & Soul music."
Meshing It All Together:
"As I stand in my calling and walk this path, I've encountered like souls whose energy has compelled me to seek a deeper understanding of the spiritualist force that drives us all.
Peace. Love. & Flow
~Mo'Kha
