After 30 years in the music industry, Joachim Witt's influence can be heard in bands like Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Oopmh!, In Extremo, Megaherz and many others.
Joachim Witt has been a leading figure of the German music industry for more than 30 years. With over two million records sold, Witt's influence can be heard on many modern metal, industrial, gothic and alternative acts. Bands such as Rammstein and Eisbrecher count themselves among his fans and his current work will certainly appeal to fans of those acts. In the early 80s he was a leading figure in Germany's "NDW" scene which most American audiences might equate with synthpop (Falco and Nena were other big stars of the scene) and scored a huge hit with the song "Goldener Reiter." His work in the 90s became darker and heavier, and brought another smash hit song, "Die Flut," which featured Wolfsheim vocalist Peter Heppner as a guest singer. In 2006, his album "Bayreuth 3" debuted in the Top 40 of the official German national sales charts and went to Number One on amazon.com's German site.
