Once upon a time on the night of the full moon Joana went to the forest and came across the wolf who was howling. She came closer and said hey wolf can you teach me to sing that nice hooooowl. And the wolf said yes and asked her to open her pretty mouth, and when she did the wolf jumped in like into a deep well. Since then, the girl wanders around with the wolf inside her and each time the moon is full she lets out a wild hoooowl.
Joana And The Wolf are a London four piece made up of Lithuanian singer-songwriter Joana and English musicians Ali (guitar), Louis (drums) and Katie (bass).
Between regular London gigs, highlights so far include performing at Brighton's Great Escape festival, supporting James Dean Bradfield at ULU, playing the Rock n Roll stage at Bestival, recording a live session for John Kennedy at Xfm...and Joana singing on Kasabian's track 'Empire' !
Through their Live shows they've built up a faithful following whose votes helped take the band to the 2007 INDY Music Awards, where they won the award for Best New Wave Act. In 2008 they were Xfm Music:response competitors twice, again made the finals for the INDY Music awards, and performed at the 2008 Camden Crawl.
Their explosive performances have established them one of the must-see acts of London - their photo was recently chosen to represent the North London music scene in the 2008 London style guidebook 'Pimp London: The Guide'
In January 2009 they supported Pete Doherty with Babyshambles at The Rhythm Factory in East London.
"Their live shows are essential viewing." - The Fly magazine
"...even more impressive were Joana & The Wolf, who played a storming set of thrilling new wave rock. Proper New Favourite Band material" - Metro, London
"Here is an exciting band with a singer very much in touch with her inner PJ Harvey and with enough of an ear for melody to leave people wanting more" - Music Week
Purple Nights reviews:
"This is a raw exhilirating animal of a record...a dark epic of a single" - Culturedeluxe
"Such a canine noise, emitting as it does from the mouth of an ethereal, be-fringed young lady, is a deeply, deeply enticing thing" - rockfeedback.com
"With a bit of luck, some of [Regal's] future records will come close to the imaginative scale and impact of this unique and darkly beautiful track" - Control Yourself music magazine
Sick of wasting 200 quid at Glastonbury to wade about in muck on bad drugs watching Sting with a bunch of hippies?
There is an alternative.
And it's better than suicide.
You would be silly not to take it.
It is Club Hell.
It's The Party At The End Of The Line.
HEAT FROM A DEADSTAR
"Spooky guitars morph into the sound of crying monsters, and twisty time signatures barrage their way through brick walls...brings to mind My Bloody Valentine or the ethereality of early Mogwai. Currently holed up in Steve Albini’s studio in Chicago, HFADS are potentially stratospheric."
God Is In The TV
"Deadstar is a repository for all the emotions we don't know how to put into words... "
Etherised Zine

PONY PACK
Two explosive Dutch girl bands. They are not like The Spice Girls. They are very angry about something. They could have easily taken out Courtney Love back in the day.
If you missed early Hole/The Breeders/Veruca Salt/the Riot Grrrl thing the first time 'round, see this. Or find 'em in Holland; last London show.
MARCIA MELLO A busking girl and her guitar playing ragtime pre-war blues from Provincetown, Massachusetts. Covers of people like Memphis Minnie, Blind Blake and Blind Lemon Jefferson...

'The Black Trip' is a dark, oneiric short experimental film Directed by
Russell Lee Ford and Produced by British Getaway Films.
The short is in homage to 1950's film noir and the visuals refer to the
depiction of dream-like states within films of a femme fatale character
conventionally identified with this genre. The Film is soundtracked by Arrows
Down and features the Burlesque talent of Miss Betsy Rose
Before you watch this short film I am required to state that if you are
sensitive to flashing lights or you are easily aroused then for Health and
Safety you probably shouldn't watch it.
