Wow-- The 2nd Annual CellarFest 2011 went off with a big BANG of great music and people! A big thank you to everyone who joined us! Next year should be even bigger and better! A BIG "thank you" to all the people and fans who came down to hang with us for last SATURDAY'S MAY 1ST, the 1ST ANNUAL JOAN JONES CellarFest 2010 IN LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA BY THE POLO GROUNDS--- 3RD WEEKEND IN A ROW FOR GREAT MUSIC! It was insanely good and the people, the music, wine & food was great! COME JOIN US FOR JUMPING INTO A WEEKEND OF GREAT MUSIC & ROCKING IT WITH BANDS- JOE GREEN & & THE HEAVY STEPPERS, NEVADA BRET JENSEN & THE DEATH VALLEY JUBILEE, CHRIS LATERZO & BUFFALO ROBE, BILLY KENT AND MANY MORE NEXT YEAR AT Joan Jones 2nd Annual Cellarfest 2011--- !!! .. ...... .. .. .. One of the few folks who can actually claim to be a native Los Angeleno, Joan Jones was born and raised in the heart of Hollywood. She was even the trumpet-playing mascot at the infamous Hollywood High. And those were the L.A. days, when clubs like the Whisky-a-Go-Go, the Starwood, Gazzarri's, and Madame Wong's were kicking, while artists like X were coming into their own. That's the Hollywood that shaped Joan's musical world, along with old records by Stevie Wonder, the Doors, and Spike Jones and new ones by Paul Weller, U2, and Lucinda Williams. With that mixed bag of tricks to pull from, no wonder Joan's own creations straddle and bend so many genres. .. .. Jones teamed with David Russo to form an acoustic folk-rock band called Far Cry, which later became a full-on rock band known as Sun 60. Together they paid a good bit of dues on the L.A. club circuit and were signed with EPIC RECORDS and released three albums and toured the country and had videos on MTV (which you can buy on I-Tunes). Upon Sun 60's dissolution, Jones took some time to regroup, so to speak, and then dove into writing songs for a solo project. Producer/Engineer Nick DiDia stepped in to help the process along, and the final result was "Starlite Criminal," a wonderfully eclectic bunch of songs full of singable melodies and playfully twisted but ever-so-thoughtful lyrics. Following Hollywood Records' release of "Starlite Criminal" in 1998, a song from the album made the Felicity soundtrack, she had songs featured in MTV's Road Rules, House of Style, and more. Jones then hit the road opening for artists such as Fastball, Seal, Ziggy Marley, and Big Head Todd and the Monsters, with a few Lilith Fair dates tossed in for good measure. Summer 2000 found Jones contributing music to an animated Internet show called The Prom Queens while composing songs for "Velvet Underdog" which would be the sarcastic companion piece to "Starlite Criminal." She continued working with DiDia and hit again in 2002 with "Atlanta Sessions." .. .. Because she writes songs like no one else and is an amazingly compelling performer, Joan enjoys a rabid fan base who just can't get enough of her work. "Brown Blonde" is the long-awaited new release from a true original. Whether as an acoustic troubadour or a rocking powerhouse, Joan Jones never fails to deliver the goods. "With Brown Blonde, Jones turns down the volume a little and lets you really hear her haunting voice and creative lyrical play. No one writes songs like Joan Jones does. Her whimsical, off-kilter lyrics wind through memorable melodies and interesting arrangements that you just don't hear from any other artist." kelly mccartney .. .. Joan was involved with the Johnny Cash Tribute for Walk The Line (TV) playing alongside a number of artists including, Nora Jones, Kris Kristofferson, and more. She was also involved in the production of Rosehill Drive's first album, and she has a song featured in the 2008 movie, P.S. I Love You starring Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow, and Kathy Bates. The song isn't on Brown Blonde, but we'll try to make it available if it's not on the soundtrack. Between touring with BHTM in 2009, Joan is currently working on a new bactch of songs with Bret Nevada Jensen that should be ready in mid to late 2010! .. .. ..
