JOANNA EDEN (piano/vocals), CHARLIE PRICE (drums/percussion), DAN BOUTWOOD (guitar), AL TSENTIDES (bass), JULIE WALKINGTON (double bass), JIM MULLEN (guitar)
ABOUT THE BAND
My 'band' can be anything from just me on piano and vocals to anything I can muster!
Regular co-conspirators are:-
CHARLIE PRICE (myspace.com/charliepricedrums) on drums and percussion - when he's not doing his ska thing with his band Intensified all over Europe. He's performed on all my albums and not just because he sleeps with me and bathes our wee bairn on a regular basis! Because he's a fine, fine man of rhythm! Women love drummers because they're the cavemen of music (that's a compliment by the way!).
IAN NEWMAN one of the most tasteful and supportive musicians I've worked with Ian is the calm in the storm of my life and music!! Nothing's a problem and he's always on time - unlike us!! The absolute rock of the trio!
DAN BOUTWOOD on guitar. He's the most original person you'll meet and probably the most musical - perhaps the most infuriating too - but then he did invent my nickname: Psycho Bitch which I've grown rather attached to! (Dan's busy these days with his party band Mind the Gap)
AL TSENTIDES played bass on most of MY OPEN EYE and is just a seriously musical guy with lovely ideas (v. busy these days with his own band Capricorn).
JULIE WALKINGTON is me old mate (less of the old, she's gorgeous!) of many a moon and a fantastic jazz double bassist - with her own fan-club! We've just recorded my soon-to-be-released (on 33Jazz label) jazz trio album MOVING SHADOWS and she was a star in the studio as usual.
JIM MULLEN is my absolute guitar hero. He blends amazing jazz stuff with an ability to communicate the soul of any melody - and the fact that he supports us up-and-coming artists is a testament to his generosity. Under that gruff Glaswegian scareiness is a big old puppy dog! He played beautifully on MY OPEN EYE and let me write lyrics over a Robbie Burns arrangement of his BONNIE WEE THING - the solo on that is just heaven.
Influences
In no particular order:- The Beatles, Nina Simone, Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, Ella Fitzgerald, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Cara Dillon, John Coltrane, Keith Jarret, Liane Carroll, Shakatak, The Beatles, Billy Joel, The Cocteau Twins, Keane, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr
Sounds Like
Joni Mitchell meets Blossom Deary meets Rickie Lee Jones meets Sade meets Chrissie McVee meets me!
What a crazy old summer! Another fabulous picnic concert supporting Buena Vista Social Club diva Omara Portuondo at Kenwood House... what a night! If you came along thank you so much for the warm response... I could really feel the appreciation and only wish my 30 minute set could have been 3 hours!! The day after we flew to sunny Cyprus for a 6 week contract at the Anassa Hotel... a much needed break from the rain and driving. But it feels good to be on our way back to the UK... tanned, energised, well practiced and ready for anything. Hope you like the new songs... we're getting some great responses so this is an exciting time... thanks so much for listening and if you come along to a gig... please come and say hi!

Two highlights for me from your sets last night at "The Winelight Club".
"Cape of feeling" which is STILL my favourite song of yours, but also that incredibly moving song you sang which almost had me in tears (my audiences tend to be in tears too but for a different reason:-)the title of which I dont know but would imagine it would be called something like "My Son Would Be A Man" ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!
