Joanna Ferrer estudia música moderna a l'Escola de Jazz, l'Aula Musical de Girona, al Taller de Músics de Barcelona, i amb els guitarristes Albert Cubero i Francesc Ubanell. L’any 2000 es trasllada a Londres a on estudia a la Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Goldsmiths University, Morley College i amb les cantants Clare Foster i Judy Niemack. Joanna Ferrer presenta un repertori que combina temes originals i versions de bossanova.
Born and still based in Girona, Spain, Joanna spent her childhood between Portugal and Catalonia.
At 9 years old she began to study dance and jazz, later studying at the School of Modern Music and Jazz in Girona and Taller de Musics in Barcelona. She recorded the cd Inquieta at the age of 18 with Miguel Sala and toured Cuba on several occasions with the Selva Big Band.
After playing in various local groups she travelled to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and returned home to form her own music academy in St. Gregori, La Casa Groga.
Studied jazz guitar with Albert Cubero and Francesc Ubanell and voice with Clare Foster, Louise Gibbs and Judy Niemack.
She currently works with Catalan theatre groups and composes and performs her original bossanova songs on voice/guitar with the Joanna Ferrer Group.
