"I'm glad there are people who can express the human condition so wonderfully!!."- guest book entry
Joanna has written over 25 original songs, including Hope, which was created for The Flotillas of Hope a civilian convoy of boats that took gifts to the refugees imprisoned in Nauru, to highlight their plight and express solidarity. The instigator of the ambitious journey Stavros Georgopoulos asked Joanna to compose the theme song and offered her the opportunity to sail under the stars on the initial leg between the bon voyage rallies in Sydney and Newcastle.
A number of songs from her debut Ep Castaway received airplay on the ABC and community radio. The title track was recognised as a standout entry in the Adult Contemporary section of the ABC Newcastle Music Awards.
An avid support of independent women's music, Joanna has been involed in organising events such as HOWLfest Newcastle's Festival of Women's Music (http://www.angelfire.com/oz/howlfest/) and SoulSirens the acoustic event at Sheila Fest in 2006(http://www.cat.org.au/sheila/)
She is currently organising OutSkirts at the Sandringham Hotel. (htttp://www.myspace.com/outskirtsevents)
