On the back of her popular worldwide single "Eimaste Mazi", Melbourne’s own Joanne Xenidis, in conjunction with Jellyfish Music, is proud to launch her debut album “Genesis”. A unique combination of emotive, personal lyrics and an enchanting voice, Joanne encapsulates the beautiful marriage between her Hellenic roots and eclectic Melbourne style.
Following in the footsteps of her Grandfather who was absorbed in traditional Greek music and Byzantine chanting, Joanne has delivered a smooth, enticing album that is bound to be on high rotation on your MP3 player.
Two years in the making, Joanne has poured her soul into every song with the lyrics and melodies flowing into an album of self-discovery, spiritual awakening and the act of an old world passing away and a new world being born, a genesis.
Joanne has collaborated with Tim Henwood (Androids) and Michael Stangel, both accomplished producers, musicians and writers who are internationally recognised working alongside great Aussie artists such as The Veronicas, Melissa Tallon, Borne, Shannon Noll, Vanessa Amorossi, Human Nature, Sophie Monk, Tiffany Wood, and Mark Holden.
“Eimaste Mazi” continues to receive significant airplay on all Greek Australian radio stations as well as Radio Greece. Joanne has successfully performed her music at major festivals, clubs and schools around Australia and most recently at the Antipodes Festival.
Joanne is thrilled to announce that to launch Genesis there will be a much anticipated gig at The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda on Saturday 9 May 2009.
“My fans, friends and family have been asking me when the album was coming and I am so pleased to be able to bring it to them. The launch allows me to thank them for their support throughout my musical journey and show them the outcome of the past two year’s work”.
In recognition of her fellow talented musicians Joanne will be supported by DJ Kosta Kay.
Genesis has been released through the Arias and is currently available online and in all good record stores. CDs will also be on sale at the launch.
