Bio
Joan Walsh, originally from Dublin, Ireland, living in Co. Leitrim since Feb 2006, has been writing songs and making art since 1992 more or less. As a SINGER / SONGWRITER, she has performed in various venues in Dublin and around Ireland, and on national and local radio stations. She is a member of the Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO) since 1995. She performed her own work and hosted a successful 'variety night' at the Moo Wine Bar, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim for 6 months, 2008. Unfortunately the Moo Wine Bar closed in October '08, sadly missed by many. An alternative venue for 'Joan Walsh and Guests' will be arranged in time. She was a student on the Traditional Irish Music Course, The Mayflower, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim from Sept. 2008 - June 2011 - great course and much appreciated by one and all. Joan Walsh and her old and not so old songs. 4 pre-mix recordings of my songs recorded in May 2007. 40 hours of recording; 8 of my songs in the process of being laid down..and then the C drive crashed and there were no back-ups done. These 4 pre-mixes are all that I have from that session. Nothing is lost, however, as indeed these songs of mine were not improvised, and are and were already very well documented, registered with I.M.R.O and copyrighted by myself long time ago etc bla-d-bla. The last time I recorded before this was about 10 years before. One song - Biddy Early recorded in Co. Roscommon, 2009. As a DANCER, she is a qualified dance leader in community / creative dance with the Laban Guild U.K, Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath. Also she was involved for a number of years with a Dublin flamenco class, which performed at her Visual Voice 2. She taught flamenco and Laban, and has learnt Sean nos, Salsa, and Set Dancing. As an ARTIST, The Visual Voice and Visual Voice 2, Joan's solo exhibitions were held in the Dublin Writers' Museum, '00 and '01. "Visual Voice 3" Gallery Cafe, Gort, Co. Galway Nov / Dec '07. Joan's Visual Voice exhibitions combine her artist and lyrical creativity. Joan's work has been bought by patrons from USA, Europe and Ireland, and has exhibited in Kenny's, Waldock, The Dock Shop. Previously Tig na Gaillime & Nimmo's, Galway; Inishbofin Arts Festival; Sea Week, Letterfrack; Reddest Stolen Cherries, Dublin Writers' Museum. A member of Solas Gallery, Ballinamore since 2007 and exhibited in a number of their group shows. More recent Solo shows - 'The Light Fantastic', 2009, Joan's 7th Solo Art Exhibition - " A Flask of Tea and Sandwiches" @ Solas Gallery, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Ireland - 24th Aug - 15th Sept. 2012. As an ACTRESS, Joan has trained in the Performing Arts and has performed in a number of plays. Once & Again, Galway; Our Country's Good, Dublin. As a DESIGNER, Joan is a design graduate of the College of Marketing and Design (DIT). As a TRAVELLER, many places.. Inishbofin to Egypt, Turkey, Mexico, USA, Canada, Oz, China, Tibet, Nepal, Europe, Cambodia. Joan presently lives in Ballinamore, CO. Leitrim, Ireland. -

Hi Joan,
I got well back home last Monday, with the key of my B&B still in my pocket (lol).
It wasn't easy to reach you through Myspace for this PC clumsy-one, but I succeeded at last to get to you.
I am delighted to see all your art-results on your page! Nicely done. Very personal and appealing songs! And your paintings are unique and a pleasure for the eye! Keep the good work going!
It was a nice to meet you at Drum Sean Mo (the back of the old cow, I was told by Breda Mckeon)
see you later

thanks joan....
thats actually my own dog in the picture......mans best friend ya know..... : )
sadly, ireland has been a right wing state for a long while and every day there seems to be another example of private business being favoured over ordinary decent citizens; its frightening to think about it......
time we all decided what kind of country we want to live in......before the decision is taken out of our hands for good......
& the ireland we grew up in is gone; closed forever.....
peace & love
