With a solid background playing in punk bands while growing up in the midwest, Joan Wilson Rueter's love affair with country and folk music was deepened after finding a fiddle in a dumpster and teaching herself to play. In addition to fiddle, Joan plays guitar, mandolin, and button accordion. She has played everywhere from subways, dives, dancehalls and prisons to major music venues and festivals, opening up for acts such as Wanda Jackson and Old Crow Medicine Show along the way. Catch her playing live in the SF bay area with bands The Barbary Ghosts, Whiskey and Women, James Downes and the Sad Franks, as well as on her own.
