JOBA: It's all about the good life. It's summer time. Then sun sets on the ocean, 24 degrees. The campground right on the beach is crowded with young folks sitting in front of their tents, having a barbecue, waiting for the sun to set. The sound of the seashore mixed with guitar sounds and the pleasant voice of a 24 year old guy. These are the moments JOBA wants to capture for everyday life -- moments of being laid back, without any worry and just being free. Joba's music is like holiday coming right out of the CD player - especially in hard times. "Music is incredibly important for achieving a balance of reason and feelings, there is a life beside the job, college or high-school" says JOBA. JOBA is born in Bonn, Germany. Growing up in a musical family he gets his first guitar at the age of 8. In Bonn he also graduates from high school to then study law and science of music. But very soon music takes over. He moves to the South of Cologne to focus on his musical career. "I just wanted to write songs, sing and play guitar", tells the young musician. In 2008, he goes on a Euro-trip with friends and as street musician they play for food and home. Inspired by this experience he writes songs. Knowing that people associate him with the beach-pop cliché he states: "actually the guitar performance at the bonfire embodies one of the most intimate, interactive and original kinds of concert. JOBA produces home-made demo-tapes, gets in touch with music labels but at the beginning he has to cope with refusal, critique and disinterest. Not giving up he keeps working on his songwriting skills and participates in several songwriting contest. And - he is successful: JOBA is invited to play at the John Lennon Talent Award in Hamburg and even wins the mp3.de newcomer award, sponsored by Sony ATV Publishing. Now things get going and he is soon contracted by the Berlin-based Indie-Label Exzess Berlin and is sent on a short support Tour with The BossHoss. The concerts with one of the most successful German bands are only the beginning. On 21 August 2009, the singer is releasing his first album "handshake & apology". His music could be termed "honest, self-made songwriter pop" and only seldom, German music has been that easy-going, refreshing and laid-back. The beach-hymn and first summer-single "Tequila Baby" is JOBA's personal tribute to a light-hearted, easy-going life and the soundtrack for the summer of 2009.
