LAKE FEVER PRODUCTIONS///
Wedged into the belly of the Music Row beast, Lake Fever is a top-notch recording studio and production company. For the most part, we focus on sounds of the rock & pop persuasion. Some of the more well-known artists that have made records with us include: Silver Jews, Superdrag, The Features, How I Became the Bomb, Tomahawk, The Privates, The Selmanaires, Tommy & the Whale, The Pink Spiders, & Hotpipes.
We also book and promote shows under the Lake Fever banner. Get in touch if you're looking to get some exposure. We can probably lend a hand. Gradually, we are building a musical empire. It's okay, you know you love it.
INDIE GHETTO///
Thank God for college radio. In this era of Clear Channel's corporate, homogenized fluff, going left of the dial is about the only chance you have to hear something decent. With that, you'd be wise to turn your radios to 91.1 WRVU on Thursday afternoons from 1:00-3:00 and come kick it with me on the stoop down in the Indie Ghetto.
Each week, I spin the best in local and regional rock sounds. If you're not aware, Nashville is a bubbling cauldron of amazing bands and it's beginning to spill out into the rest of the world. And since we did, in fact, invent rock & roll down here in the South, I always make room for the great sounds coming out of other Southern music scenes like Atlanta, Louisville, Athens, Knoxville & Birmingham. And I'm always looking for new stuff to spin, so hit me up if you're band doesn't suck.
Don't live here in Nashville or stuck in your cubicle at work and without FM? No worries, you can stream it live at wrvu.org. You can also check out the archive of each week's show just in case you missed it.
You can also keep up with what's happening over at IndieGhetto.net
STORIES THAT LIVE///
I got my first bass guitar for my 12th birthday and it's been all downhill since. Sixteen years later, it seems I still can't get away from my love of plunking away at those four flat-wound strings on a Fender bass.
In the summer of '07, I met a peculiar young lad by the name of Brockford Lee. He played a big ole' green hollow body guitar and sang in a deep baritone about the strange delights of life and love. Though I had recently decided to hang up my rock gear, he quickly lured me back into the flock with his sweet melodies and strange outlook on this world. With that, I became the bass player for his group Stories That Live. Someone should pay us handsomely to make music. Any takers?
