Joe was born in South Western Pennsylvania in a small town called Perryopolis. He became a fixture in the local city's (Pittsburgh) Punk/New Wave & Hardcore scenes in the early 80's, getting much airplay on college stations & community radio (it was cool back then). In 1986, Bendik moved to New York City and met Lach around that time while immersing in the Antifolk scene. Alternative Press cites him as a 'pioneer of NYC's Antifolk sound' & Joe continues to be involved with this thing as well as evolving as a performer, composer & producer. Bendik plays club shows on a regular basis along with performing at outdoor events & festivals.
