Joe Biden is a rare mix. A leader who has worked for decades in Washington, but has never lived there. An expert on foreign policy, whose heart and values are firmly rooted in the middle class; one who has stared down dictators, and spoken for America's cops and firefighters. He is uniquely suited to serve as Barack’s partner in the urgent mission to bring about the change America needs to put our country back on track.
Joe was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and is the oldest of four children. His family moved from Pennsylvania to Claymont, Delaware when Joe was 10. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1965 and from law school at Syracuse University in 1968, Biden moved back to the Wilmington area and set up his own law firm. He practiced law until 1972.
In 1970, Biden – at age 27 – ran for New Castle County Council and won in a Republican district. At age 29, he launched an improbable bid to unseat two-term Republican U.S. Sen. J. Caleb Boggs. With very little help from the state establishment, and with his sister as his campaign manager, Biden defeated Boggs by 3,162 votes.
In addition to serving as U.S. Senator, Biden has been an adjunct professor at the Widener University School of Law since 1991, where he teaches a seminar on constitutional law.
Joe has a proven record of bringing people together to get things done. From global warming to combating violence against women to confronting the challenges of the dangerous world in which we live, Joe Biden has fought every day over the course of his life in public service to improve the lives of middle class families.
Joe Biden is exactly what the United States of America needs in a vice president, a champion of the working man, someone who will stick up for the people that punch a time clock everyday
Good job at the debate! You more than met expectations and the poll numbers are reflecting it. I look forward to seeing you and Obama running this country. McPalin is right, a change is coming to Washington. Only thing is, it won't be him and sarahcuda but rather YOU and Obama! Yes we can and WE WILL!!
When you said ur opinion of how Dick Cheney is the most dangerous vp of all time and its scary what he has done with his power...right on.. I am a registered republican but the last eight years have been horible, I wasnt able to vote 4 years ago because i wasnt the legal age too but now at age 20..to say my first vote is going to be for Obama and Biden I couldnt ask for a better team to vote for. Im looking forward to some great things...God bless!
Senator Biden: Your debate performance was excellent! You managed to get past the pitbull without damage, a feat that cannot be measured! Thank you and keep on doing great work!
I don't care what the news says, you spanked Sarah Palin. She didn't answer a single one of the questions posed to her, while you answered all of the questions to my satisfaction. Thank you for being a gentleman, and thank you for calling on John Mcain's voting record.
Joe, GOD bless your good nature. I saw every value I honor in a true leader. I respect and admire your opponents very much like I know you do. They mean well , but truly do not get it!!! I trust you and Barack with my life and the life's of my loved ones. I can't say that about your rivals. You have my vote and support. My great uncle was John Young Congressman from Corpus Christi. Our GGGGGgrandfather was American Revolutionary Patriot William Young of Greensville South Carolina. His Rock house still stands their and his values live in me. My ROOTs in this Country run deep. My judgement and vision are clear. You will be my Vice President and to tell you the truth I can't wait.......... GODS SPEED my friend, and I hope once we win that we all will win!!!
Senator Biden , you did an awesome job last night! Please keep up the good work ! As a half latina and half African american and a Catholic I am helping to spread the word that Yes we can!
watching you speak lasynight gave me a whole new respect for you .. greatly knowlagable, powerful ..yet concerned about lowere income people like me ... although im a teacher im struggling so bad! ..
we need you as President after these 8 yrs as VP! ..
Hey Joe! Someone has got to get the inexperience out of her! The thought of her as a vice pres scares me! You did real good though. Tell her that oil is really from dinosaurs...lol
Thanks for the add, senator & hopefully our next VP. I thought that you did a great job in the VP debate & hopefully convincing us that we don't need "more of the same" that we had in the last 8 years. I liked that "bridge to nowhere" comment that you made concerning the McCain/Palin plan for health care. Good luck to you & Obama with winning the White House, as well as your son's tour in Iraq.
thank you for your speech last night! Gave me the chance to see exactly what you stand for:) All of the questions I had for you were answered...Palin didn't really answer the questions... instead she danced around them as if they made up a blazing fire pit. As long as she makes her dance distracting enough people will forget all about the fire...at least a few of us will. I honestly believe that we informed folks of America just really aren't up for another Bush/McPalin fiasco! Forget dems vs. repubs, it's come down to right vs. wrong!
