Through our music, we want people to know our artistic side, but also our personality, since the latter is the real ingredient of our production along with emotions, happiness, tragedies of our lives, fears, rage, and all those others that influence us in everyday life. Besides, through our music, we want to give a little contribution to help the poorest children of the world, and we want to take our part into the fight against this political and economical system, which is leading more and more to the total exploitation of resources, reducing many innocent people to starvation.
Noi vogliamo, attraverso la nostra musica, farci conoscere sia sotto il profilo artistico ma soprattutto sotto il profilo Umano, in quanto ciò che componiamo è frutto solamente delle nostre emozioni, gioie, tragedie di vita, paure, rabbia e tutto ciò che ci influenza quotidianamente. Inoltre attraverso la musica, vogliamo dare il nostro piccolo contributo per aiutare i bambini indigenti nel mondo e combattere, questo sistema politico ed economico mondiale che sta portando allo sfruttamento totale delle risorse ed alla fame tanti esseri umani incolpevoli.
The Joe Black Group was born in May 2005, based on an idea of its songwriter and keyboard player Giovanni Orlando, aka “Joe Black Group”, who, together with the eclectic Andrea Gemmato (“Ritratto di un mattino gruppo rock progressive”, that is to say: “Portrait of a morning - progressive rock group”), begins to develop ‘60s- and ‘70s-like sounds.
Two months later Claudio Merico, violinist and founder of the “Anonima Folk” folk rock group, collaborates to enrich these new sounds.
With these elements, they give birth to the first Joe Black Group’s cd, focused on the search for a kind of sound coming from three different musical periods: the ‘70s, the ‘80s and the ‘90s. The title of this first work is “Artic Mind”, but it isn’t distributed because of founds shortage at that time. “Artic Mind” has three important collaborations in it: the one of Simone Costantino, who contributed positively with his voice and his rap style; the one of Flavia Falanga, aka "Meei" (voice in "Time has come"); and the one of Alessandra Fineo (voice in "Rain").
At the end of the summer of 2006, the group finds, within a few weeks, the three missing components, namely: Stefano Spataro (founder of “Ritratto di un mattino”) and his electric bass, Marcello De Felice (drummer of “Anonima Folk”) and that astonishing soul voice of Ilaria Fuggetti’s, who will soon become one of the columns and fundamental members of the group.
From the October of 2006 and up to the July of 2007, the Joe Black Group consolidate its position with the three principal members (Giovanni Orlando, Ilaria Fuggetti and Andrea Gemmato) and with important collaborations, first of which is the one with Claudio Merico (violin), then with Stefano Spataro and Marcello De Felice.
This is the starting line of the new cd. In July 2007, Andrea Gemmato (electric guitar) leaves the band, but this is no earthquake: on the other hand, the band (Ilaria, Joe and Stefano with the unique collaboration of Claudio Merico) can continue to carry on the hard work for the second cd.
December 2007 witnesses an important change: Stefano (bass) leaves the band, in accord with the rest of the members, to follow his personal project (Ada Nuky) and his place is taken by an extraordinary and bright bass player: Anna Annicchiarico, aka “Nina, the sweet iron bass”, who starts immediately to mark her personal style, both musically and personally, in four songs: "Deep inside", "Waiting for your love", also working towards achieving the words of "The beginning". Nina also wrote the words for the splendid 'My little soldier'.
In January 2008, the Joe Black Group receives a phone call from an important international company for discography distribution and marketing, the Pirames International in the person of Federico Montesanto, with the result that they actually obtain a contract for the digital distribution of their first cd: “Faith”.
Other projects, still in an early stage, are the opening of a Recording Studio, of a Proof Studio and an audio/video production society, to give the possibility to other local groups to play with high level instrumentation. The idea is to give to the Studio a typical American sound, as the most important characteristic.
It is not easy to label the Joe Black Group under a determined musical genre, since its members are from very different musical backgrounds: because of this, the group pass from Fusion to Funky Jazz, through Soul, some ‘70s rock nuance and New Age.
Il Joe Black Group nasce nel maggio del 2005 da un’idea del suo compositore e tastierista Giovanni Orlando, alias “Joe Black Group” , che insieme al poliedrico Andrea Gemmato (Ritratto di un mattino gruppo rock prog.), cominciano a sviluppare sonorità che ricordano gli anni '67 / '70. Sonorità che si arricchiscono, due mesi dopo, con la collaborazione nel gruppo di Claudio Merico, violinista e fondatore del gruppo rock folk “Anonima Folk”.
Con questi elementi prende corpo il primo Cd dei Joe Black Group, basato sulla ricerca di suoni provenienti da tre diversi periodi musicali differenti (anni 70-80-90). Il primo cd intitolato “Arctic mind”, non verrà distribuito a causa delle poche risorse finanziarie; in questo lavoro spiccano tre importanti collaborazioni: Simone Costantino che contribuirà positivamente con la sua voce e lo stile Rap. Flavia Falanga alias “Meei” (Voce in 'Time as come'). Alessandra Fineo (Voce in 'Rain').
Alla fine dell'estate 2006, il gruppo trova in poche settimane i tre componenti che mancavano e cioè: Stefano Spataro (fondatore dei Ritratto di un mattino) basso elettrico, Marcello De Felice (batterista degli Anonima Folk), ed una splendida voce soul quella di Ilaria Fuggetti che presto diventerà una delle anime principali e fondamentali del gruppo.
A partire da ottobre 2006 e sino a luglio 2007 la band prende corpo con i suoi tre componenti principali della band (Giovanni Orlando, Ilaria Fuggetti e Andrea Gemmato) e con le collaborazioni importanti, prima fra tutte, di Claudio Merico al violino ed a seguire Stefano Spataro e Marcello De Felice, cominciando così a lavorare sul secondo Cd.
Nel mese di luglio 2007 viene a mancare il supporto di Andrea Gemmato (electric guitar) che lascia la band priva del suo chitarrista. Questo però non comporta alcuno scossone, anzi, la band (Ilaria, Joe e Stefano con la collaborazione preziosa di Claudio Merico), continua a sviluppare il secondo cd lavorando assiduamente.
A dicembre 2007 avviene un avvicendamento importante: Stefano (bassista) lascia consensualmente la band, per seguire meglio il suo progetto personale (Ada Nuky), ed al suo posto subentra una straordinaria e promettente bassista: Anna Annicchiarico alias “Nina, the sweet iron bass”, che appena arrivata lascia subito la sua personalissima impronta, sia musicale che umana su quattro brani: “Deep inside”, "Waiting for your love", collaborando anche alla realizzazione dei testi di “The beginning”. Nina scriverà anche il testo per la splendida 'My little soldier'.
Nel mese di Gennaio 2008 la band viene contattata da un’importante società internazionale di distribuzione e commercializzazione discografica, la Pirames Itnernational di Federico Montesanto, con cui è attualmente sotto contratto di distribuzione digitale con il suo primo lavoro discografico intitolato 'FAITH'.
Nei progetti, ancora in fase di approvazione, c’è quello di dar vita ad uno studio di registrazione, sala prova e società di produzione audio/video, per dare la possibilità ad altri gruppi della città di poter suonare con delle attrezzature di livello tecnico elevato. Lo studio di registrazione avrà caratteristiche sonore tipiche del sound americano.
La band, non è facilmente etichettabile, dato che i suoi componenti provengono da culture musicali differenti, per cui il suo genere spazia dalla Fusion al Funky jazz, passando per il Soul con alcuni richiami al Rock anni 70 e la New Age.
