Joee Cons, known today for his fully charged sets, began his musical journey in Toronto, Canada. Forming an electronic group in his early teens, he began recording house and techno inspired by the early dance scenes of New York, Chicago, Detroit and London.
Fascinated by the energy created by two tracks simultaneously mixed together, electronic dance music took over his soul, turntables quickly became his choice instrument and his focus would then be the art of DJing. To bring satisfaction to such desires, he soon began his apprenticeship with many Toronto Sound Systems and Nightclubs.
On the decks and on the airwaves, Joee was added to the Raw Energy Experience, Toronto’s underground mix show on CHRY 105.5 FM, which featured international guests such as the legendary Robert Owens. It was the mid nineties and Joee Cons became of age, in the DJ booths at legendary super clubs like Club Energy, FX, Club 108 and RPM, playing for thousands for the first time. Soon after, he would regularly play at underground parties and infamous raves along side Dr. No, Alx of London, Mark Oliver, and Dr. Trance.
Over the years, Joee has developed a unique style, creating a strong energy on the dance floor communicated through his music. He has been billed with the likes of Mark Knight, Sharam, Deadmau5, Fedde Le Grand, Steve Lawler, Josh Wink, Tom Novy, Seb Fontiane, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Rene Amesz, Danny Freakazoid, Joey Beltram, 16 Bit Lolitas, Austin Leeds, Jon Rundell, Matthew Dekay, to name a few.
His turntable adventures have brought him to numerous clubs and residencies, such as The Guvernment, Comfort Zone, This Is London, Hotel, Footwork, Dragonfly, Film, Beach Club, and at infamous events such as Amigos, Rock The Boat, Destiny, Effective, and Atlantis. His DJ passport has brought him to the most unpredictable gatherings in Canada, USA and Mexico.
In 1998 Joee Cons’ debut single “Get Funkee” became a dance floor favourite and a Top 10 Hit. DJ's championed it worldwide and it was signed to Strictly Rhythm’s Groovilicious label. This was a first for a Canadian artist. The track was licensed to compilations in Canada, USA and Japan.
More notable singles followed, such as “Down To The Sound” and production/remix credits on The Funky Headhunters “Santa Monica”, which soon became a Top 20 Hit. In 2003 Joee teamed up with Saint Pete (Perfecto Records) to record “Milkshake”. In 2004 he teamed up with M1 aka Matteo DiMarr, formed the group Native Tongue and signed with Stay True/Brique Rouge in France. The first single “Fuma” was widely received internationally and became an underground tribal house hit.
The summer of 2006 saw Joee Cons reach a milestone by performing in front of one of the largest Dance Music audiences in Canada. Playing to an estimated 25,000 plus at Italy’s World Cup Victory Event in Toronto. Spawning the theme song from the event “That Soccer Track” collaborated with Manzone & Strong.
Later that year Joee Cons remixed Carlo Lio’s “Everybody” which was championed by Carl Cox, propelling a slew of solid productions and remixes, such as Daggard & Morrane “Let’s Play”, Boza “Twisted Mind”, Depeche Mode “It’s No Good” and Greg Gow “Industry”.
In 2008, Joee Cons’ highly anticipated artist single “Don’t Stop” released on Hi Bias Records, and featured on Canada’s Finest House CD and Tour. Followed up with “Futura” and “Logical Transfer” released later the same year.
Joee Cons’ dj mixes and “In The Mix” shows continue to be a sought after commodity featuring new music helping to break forthcoming unreleased material. These mixes continue to showcase Joee’s selection and sound.
Perpetually moving forward, Joee continues his musical journey behind the decks and in the recording studio. Captivating audiences with his unique style and ability to incorporate diverse musical genres, Joee Cons shows no signs of slowing down, as he continues to make a name for himself within the music industry. His greatest pleasure has been and continues to be, feeling the energy off the dance floor.
