  • Bio

Joe Fury & the Hayride are based on the Galway/Mayo border in the west of 'Ireland', formed by Joe Fury himself after moving from the UK in 2003. After great recognition touring throughout the US, Europe, UK and of course in Ireland they are renowned for their high energy live performances and remain authentically true to a unique combination of music styles described by Chez Draper (Austin Producer) as "REDHOT ROOTS-A-BILLY" incorporating "Rockabilly, Country Boogie with a touch of slap back Blue-grassy feel at its best". The natural feel, and tone in Joe's voice once referred to by "James Burton" as "honestly distinctive" is backed by the seriously talented line-up of the "dawg-house big bass, pickin' guitar, swinging rhythm skins and that slidin' pedal steel, along with some wailin' harp". Joe fury & the hayride are defiantly becoming very popular on the festival scene throughout Ireland from the Kilkenny Rhythm "n" Roots, Electric Picnic, Cork Jazz Festival, Riverside Jump fest in Enniscorthy to name a few Hey! Hey! Hey! is the debut album from Joe Fury and the Hayride. It captures Joe's powerful vocals and the bands unique 'Rootsabilly' sound and hits the sweet spot where the roots of country music and blues meet. Tracks include the swinging Shotgun Boogie, bluegrass murder ballad Little Sadie, a Rockabilly take on the Steve Earle tune Graveyard Shift and the swampy/New Orleans feel of original song Miss Lizzy. The band are named in tribute to the "Louisiana Hayride" which was a country music radio show broadcast from Shreveport, Louisiana, that during its heyday from the late 40's to the late 50's helped to launch the careers of some of the greatest names in American music including Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell and many others. "Anyone who claims not to like rockabilly can't be fully right; when it's done with great skill it sounds simple, melodic, and beautiful, it makes you smile and want to move, that's exactly what Joe Fury & The Hayride's album, 'Hey Hey Hey' achieves. You know that apart from being well able to sing the songs, Joe's heart and soul is right in there, as is the passion and expertise of his band, delving into the rich history of rockabilly, country and bluegrass and making it fresh, again and again.
